(March 17, 2017) Beginning March 20, and running through April 7, the Ichabod Crane Elementary and Middle Schools will be joining 29,000 schools nationwide in the fight against blood cancers by participating in the “Pennies for Patients” program.
For the next few weeks, we will help people who are sick with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Students will be given an informational letter and a collection box to collect coins. Students bring the boxes back to their home room teacher or drop off in the office. Learn More
The Elementary School kicked off its Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser with an assembly on Feb. 28. A representative from the American Heart Association visited to tell students all about the program, including the "Zoo Crew" students can earn. Mr. Vooris says almost $1000 of the school's $3,000 goal has already be raised. Great job students. Keep going!
Every Friday morning the PTA book cart is available in the 4/5 hallway in the Elementary School. Students can purchase a new or gently used book for 25 cents.

The program provides backpacks filled with food that is child-friendly, shelf-stable, and easily-consumed. Bags are packed each week by school staff and discreetly distributed to participating children every Friday afternoon.
Since Ichabod Crane’s "BackPack Program" is funded entirely by local donations, the success of the program depends on fundraising efforts. To see how you can help support the BackPack Program in our schools, view the flyer here. All donations are tax deductible.
Ichabod Crane Primary School has been involved in the program since 2011 and is coordinated there by Laura Sarno. Questions about the program? Contact her at email@example.com or 892-2172.
