Ichabod Crane Explorers

I.C.E.

Ichabod Crane Explorers is a reading incentive program for second graders designed to expose students to a wide variety of reading materials. By meeting specific reading and writing goals, a student acquires the "tools" to become an official Ichabod Crane Explorer. Official explorers will receive a number of "prizes" as well as recognition at Morning Program and an invitation to a very popular "Private Pizza Party" in June. This program is fully funded by our amazing Ichabod Crane Elementary PTA.

The criteria for meeting each level are designed to encourage students to read and write about a broad range of reading materials. Students will need to read fiction, nonfiction (information or factual), biographies and more from a LIBRARY (public or school). Requiring the books be from a library encourages the children to read new books, not the ones at home that they may have read dozens of times. This program is accessible to every reader because the child can choose books that are at their reading level.
