Goal: My goal is to foster a love of reading where the children have the ability to construct meaning from their literature and are able to pick "just right" books for themselves.
I follow a Balanced Literacy Program which includes:
shared reading (using our district reading series & poetry)
word work
sight word recognition
grammar / vocabulary practice
mini lessons to model decoding and comprehension strategies
guided reading groups
literacy centers
