CLASS BEHAVIOR PLAN
- Positive Reinforcement - “Warm Fuzzy Jar” - Whenever the class works well together or is successful at a task with few reminders from the teacher, a warm fuzzy can be added to the jar. Once the jar has been filled, the class will earn a small party of the students’ choice.
- Negative Reinforcement – RECESS letters - When it is too difficult to pinpoint specific children that are misbehaving and making poor choices, or the class is having a difficult day collectively, the class may suffer consequences as a whole. On the chalkboard are the letters spelling out the word “recess.” When these instances occur, the teacher will remove one letter at a time. For each “recess” letter removed from the chalkboard, the class will lose several minutes of their recess time. If the class has lost every “recess” letter by the end of the day, then the class will not have recess that day. The letters are replaced at the beginning of each day.
INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR PLANS
- Positive Reinforcement - Monthly Star Charts - Students earn stars individually for not “pulling a card” each day. If students are able to make it through the day without pulling any cards from the “Be A Star” chart for misbehavior, then they earn a sticker on their monthly chart. At the end of the month, any students that have earned every star possible for the month will be rewarded with a small lunch or party with the teacher.
- Positive Reinforcement – Good Work Coupons – Anytime during a day that a student is behaving exceptionally well, is following directions without teacher reminders, and/or has done something kind for a friend, they may earn a good work coupon. If a student earns five good work coupons, the student can have their choice of any prize from the reward box. Students may earn this reward as often as they can collect five coupons.
- Negative Reinforcement - “Be A Star” Pocket Chart - Throughout the day, if a student does something inappropriate, is having a difficult time following directions, or is making poor choices the teacher will first give a verbal warning. After that, each time the student must be spoken with for their behavior, he/she must pull a card. Behind each child’s name are four different colored cards. For each card, or different color pulled, the consequences become more severe.
- First card – Green – student receives a warning, but can keep
their daily sticker.
- Second card – Yellow – student loses their daily sticker on the
monthly star chart.
- Third card – Orange – Student loses their daily sticker, and the
parents will be contacted through note or phone call.
- Fourth card – Pink – student will be making a phone call home
to the parents with the teacher before the end of the school day, and will be visiting the principal.
