Ceramics I
(1 credit)
Prerequisite: Studio A & Studio B
This course is an introduction to clay and glaze through various building and decoration techniques. The sculptural quality of clay is explored through lessons inspired by ceramics from around the world. Projects are organized around the use of hand-building techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, and drape molding to create both decorative and functional ceramics. The potter’s wheel may also be used during class after initial instruction after school to learn the basic skills.
