Student Service Program

Mission

This program is to help our students find effective strategies to improve their academic success by providing struggling student learners with a peer tutor in a specific subject area. Through this program we are able to address the needs of our students while providing them with an extra support system that will empower them to take responsibility for their future.

How does it work?

Based on an application process, highly qualified peer tutors are selected and matched with students that are in need of a tutor in a specific core academic subject area. The peer tutors and student learners are required to meet together for an hour, once a week, after school for a tutoring session. During this time the peer tutor will assist the student learner with school assignments and test preparation.

Benefits

  • Provides student learners with a different way to learn an academic subject
  • Peer tutors may be able to present material in a way that caters to the student learners unique needs and learning styles
  • Helps both peer tutor and student learner develop a strong sense of responsibility
  • Peer tutor will sharpen their social skills and communication skills
  • Program prepares students for career preparation and a form of community service

Donations

We would like to specifically thank Stewart's and Cumberland Farms for contributing to the program.
