Units of Study 2009 - 2010

This year we will be studying the Third Grade Curriculum in Social Studies and Science. 

Our Social Studies topics include:


          *  Cultures, civilizations and holidays around the world
          *  Communities around the world and government
          *  Geographic regions and mapping around the world

Literature and library resources are used throughout the year to help develop curriculum concepts.  Over the course of the year our students will also complete three Document Based Questions (DBQs) to prepare them for the New York State Social Studies test they will take in 5th Grade.

Science:
There are three major topics that are covered throughout the year:

         *  Land formations

         *  Magnets and electricity

         *  Plant and animal life cycles

We will complete several hands on experiments with each of our science units to familiarize students with the scientific process. 

We look forward to creating our 2010 museum exhibit incorporating all of our curriculum areas!
