Congratulations to the Class of 2015!

Ichabod Crane High School's Class of 2015 graduated on Friday, June 26 in front of family, friends, teachers and staff at the 61st annual commencement ceremony on the Gordon Van Buren field. Congratulations to all of this year's graduates and best of luck in the future!


Eleven Retiring Ichabod Crane Employees Recognized

(June 25, 2015) Eleven retiring Ichabod Crane Central School District employees were recognized in front of their colleagues on June 25 during the Superintendent's Conference Day. Superintendent George Zini thanked each employee for their dedication to the district and noted their combined 299 years of service to the district.

Those recognized are as follows: Fran Franke, Gail Helfer, Pamela Kelley, Nina Stegman, Lynda Van Alstyne, Mary Eileen Cox, Catherine Draper, Mary Ellen Andrews, Steve Fielman, Donna Van Allen and Gail Lafferty. Congratulations to all and best wishes for a happy and healthy retirement! Learn More

Kathleen Bolstad Receives Senator Marchione's "Teacher of Excellence" Award

(June 11, 2015) Ichabod Crane Central School District is pleased to announce that Ichabod Crane Elementary School teacher Kathleen Bolstad has been selected to receive the 2015 Golden Apple Teacher of Excellence Award by Senator Kathy Marchione.

Currently a fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Bolstad has been in the field of education for over 26 years at Ichabod Crane. She is among 30 teachers in the 43rd Senatorial District who are being recognized for their service, commitment and academic excellence. ICC Superintendent George Zini and Principal Tim Farley presented the award to Mrs. Bolstad on Senator Marchione's behalf. The school will also receive a $500 check.

Congratulations Mrs. Bolstad on this well-deserved recognition!


5th Graders Graduate from DARE Program

(June 10, 2015) The DARE program, sponsored by the Columbia County Sheriff's Department, celebrated 24 years at Ichabod Crane with the DARE Graduation on Friday, June 5. The D.A.R.E program, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a 10-week classroom program taught by Deputy Wendy Guntert. Learn More

Moody's Investors Service Assigns District Favorable Rating

(June 4, 2015) Moody's Investors Service has assigned a Aa3 rating to Kinderhook Central School District's $5.8 million School District (Serial) Bonds, 2015. Concurrently, Moody's has affirmed the Aa3 rating on $8.9 million of outstanding general obligation debt.

According to Moody's, the Aa3 rating reflects the district's well-managed financial operations and sound reserve levels, moderately sized tax base with above average wealth levels, and manageable debt position. Learn More

Residents Approve Budget & Elect Rose, Farrell & Antalek to the Board of Education

(May 19, 2015) Ichabod Central School District residents have approved a $37,552,000 budget for the 2015-16 school year by a vote of 762 (yes) to 335 (no). The proposed budget is a 4.95 percent increase in spending over the current year’s budget and 2.59 percent tax levy increase, which is at the District’s allowable tax levy limit under the state’s tax levy cap legislation.

Voters also approved a $319,000 bus proposition to purchase four new buses by a vote of 754 (yes) to 338 (no).

Additionally, five candidates were elected to three seats on the Board of Education. Results are:

  • Barbara-anne Johnson-Heimroth - 506
  • Matthew Nelson - 491
  • *John Antalek - 573

*Elected to three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015.

(May 12, 2015) This afternoon, three Ichabod Crane student athletes signed letters of intent to play sports at the next level. Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, teachers and administrators, the athletes signed their letters in a ceremony in the Ichabod Crane High School Gymnasium, officially committing to participate in NCAA athletics at a college or university. IC Elementary Students Raise $4101 for St. Jude Children's Hospital Through Math!

(May 5, 2015) From February into March, several students in 4th and 5th grades participated in Math-a-Thon, a fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year, the students set an Ichabod Crane school record in fundraising for the Math-a-Thon by raising $4,101 for St. Judes. To participate in Math-a-Thon, students had to collect donations from family and friends and complete a math Funbook. ICC Elementary/Middle School Earns $1000 Bonus for Hannaford Helps Schools Program

(April 28, 2015) Ichabod Crane Elementary/Middle School raised the most “School Dollars” in the community through the Hannaford Helps Schools program in 2014, and was rewarded with a $1,000 bonus check from the Kinderhook store. In all, the school earned more than $1,700 through the program. Mr. Farley says the money will be used to purchase a 3D printer (Solidoodle Workbench model) for the 2015-16 school year. Learn More


District Earns Safety Excellence Award

(April 17, 2015) The Utica National Insurance Group has again recognized Kinderhook Central School District (Ichabod Crane) with a 2015 School Safety Excellence Award. Ichabod Crane is one of 131 school districts and Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in the state to receive the award. Learn More
