Welcome to the Ichabod Crane Central School District! Whether you are a student, parent, staff member, or taxpayer this year holds the promise of dynamic change and new opportunity.
Fiscal realities in New York State have required our district to close budgetary gaps by consolidating our classes into the three school buildings on the main campus. Although our former neighborhood elementary schools, Martin H. Glynn and Martin Van Buren, have ceased operating as school buildings, their physical presence in our community still exists; and more importantly, the spirit of these schools still lives on in our newly configured Primary and Middle schools.
In addition to a new sense of community by having all our students on the main campus, we are exploring the concept of a wider sense of community through a shared services and consolidation feasibility study with the Schodack Central School District. This study began back in the spring, will continue throughout the summer and wrap up this fall. Committees have been formed with members from both communities to study the opportunities that may exist for sharing services, staff and curriculum. Stay tuned for their findings and recommendations.
These are exciting times and changing times for ourselves and everyone with a vested interest in public education, and through it all our focus remains on our students. Together with my board colleagues, I thank you for your interest, involvement, and commitment to our school district family.
