General Information

The Board of Education is the official policy-making body of our school district. Nine members serve on the Board, without pay, and are elected to three-year terms. Board elections take place in May along with the annual school budget vote.

Join Us on June 19 to Learn More About Potential Capital Project

(June 13, 2018) The community is encouraged to attend the Ichabod Crane Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library. The Board of Education, its Facilities Committee and district administration have been working together to discuss the Building Conditions Survey and potential items that could be part of an upcoming capital project. The architects from CS Arch will be sharing an overview of the project with the Board of Education that night as they get closer to developing the final scope of the project.

Residents Approve Budget, Bus Purchase, Capital Reserve Fund & Elect Three to the Board of Education

(May 15, 2018) Ichabod Crane Central School District residents have approved the $40,190,782 budget for the 2018-19 school year by a vote of 747 (yes) to 292 (no). Voters elected incumbents Regina Rose and John Antalek and newcomer Jessica Berner to the Board of Education. Residents also approved the school bus purchase proposition and a proposition to establish a Capital Reserve Fund. Thank you to all who came out to vote! Learn More

Board of Education Adopts 'Rider Goals 2021'

Board Holds Retreat to Learn About Responsibilies, Roles and Goal Setting

(Aug. 7, 2017) The Ichabod Crane Board of Education held a retreat on July 31 in the Ichabod Crane High School library. Jamie McPherson of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) facilitated the four-hour session in which board members learned about effective organizations and leadership, roles and responsibilities, communication and the goal setting process.

"This was a great opportunity for our board to collaborate, reflect on the roles and responsibilities of board members and start the goal setting process," Superintendent Michael Vanyo said. "We plan to continue our work in October with NYSSBA and develop goals that will set the framework for the 2018-19 school year."

Board of Education Passes Motion to Extend Cold War Tax Exemption

(Jan. 17, 2017) The Ichabod Crane CSD Board of Education unanimously approved a motion to extend a tax exemption to veterans of the Cold War who primarily reside in the district. Governor Cuomo signed legislation in August which allows school districts the option to grant Cold War Veterans an exemption from school taxes. Cold War Veterans were already eligible to receive an exemption from town & county taxes and now this legislation allows the schools to grant it as well.
