The Ichabod Crane Central School District has joined the Colonial Athletic Council, effective in the 2010-2011 school year.
After many years in the Patroon Conference, the district applied to the Colonial Conference based on an official recommendation by the district’s Ad-Hoc Athletic Advisory Committee, composed of parents, coaches, administrators, and students.
After careful research, the committee made the initial recommendation for the change to the Ichabod Crane Board of Education, which after deliberation approved the committee’s recommendation. The Colonial Council held a moratorium on the admittance of new districts, which was recently lifted, allowing the admittance of Ichabod Crane to the Council.
As part of the Colonial Council, Ichabod Crane will compete against the following schools: Academy of Holy Names, The Albany Academies, Cobleskill-Richmondville C.S.D., Cohoes City S. D., Lansingburgh C.S.D., Mechanicville City S.D., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk C.S.D., Schalmont C.S.D., Voorheesville C.S.D., and Watervliet City S.D.

FIELD DEDICATION CEREMONY
On August 5, 2008, the Ichabod Crane Board of Education passed a resolution officially naming our newly upgraded athletic facilities the “E. GORDON VAN BUREN ATHLETIC COMPLEX.” The complex, which is adjacent to the High School on Route 9 in Valatie, includes softball and baseball fields, 8-lane track, concession stand and tennis courts. These improvements were the result of a recent capital project approved by local voters and a grant-in-aid for the tennis courts supplied by former Assemblyman John Faso on land donated by Hudson River Savings Foundation.
“Gordie” has been synonymous with the history of Ichabod Crane; his coaching career in boys’ basketball and soccer is legendary. To acknowledge and show our appreciation for his contribution to our District, to commemorate the history of Ichabod Crane and look forward to its future, a dedication ceremony was held on Sat., Sept. 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. Many of Gordie’s friends, former students, athletes, fellow coaches, students, staff, and community members participated in this special occasion.More information and photos...
