Ichabod Crane Central School District’s school budget includes funding for a district-wide Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for resident children who reach the age of four on or before December 1 of the year students enter school. Priority for enrollment is given to students who meet the criteria for free and reduced-price school meals.
The program is provided by Questar III, the Ichabod Crane Central School District, and partners in collaboration with Advanced Therapy. The half-day program is located at Ichabod Crane Primary School. The morning session runs from 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and the afternoon session is 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Transportation to and from the program is provided by families.
This comprehensive and enriched program, taught by a certified teacher with support from a certified teaching assistant, utilizes the NYS Pre-K Foundation for the Common Core program and the Creative Curriculum. It focuses on child-centered activities, development of strong foundational skills in early literacy and numeracy, social interaction, and Kindergarten readiness skills.
