UPDATED (November 7): A reminder as the inclement weather season gets closer, we are discontinuing automated phone calls for weather-related school closings/delays. All weather-related alerts will now be sent via automated text messages and emails only.

A test text and email were sent on Monday, November 4 at 6:30 PM informing parents/guardians to contact their child’s main office if they wished to add one (1) additional phone number for text alerts. Additionally, a letter went home with all students last week informing parents/guardians to contact their child’s main office ASAP if they did not receive the November 4 text/email so we could add them to our alert system.

  • If you did not receive the November 4 text/email and still have not called your child’s main office, please do so ASAP.
  • If you wish to add one (1) additional phone number for text alerts and still have not called your child’s main office, please do so ASAP.

We are phasing out the use of automated phone calls to inform parents/guardians about weather-related school closings and delays. All weather-related alerts will now be sent via automated text messages and emails only.

To ensure you are enrolled in our automated text message system, we are conducting a test of this system by sending a text to all current primary cell phone numbers on Monday, November 4 at 6:30 PM.

A parent/guardian letter with further details has gone home with all students. You can find the text of the letter and a link to a PDF of the letter below.

As of this year, we are phasing out the use of automated phone calls to inform parents/guardians about weather-related school closings and delays.

Going forward, we will send all weather-related alerts as automated text messages and emails only.

Here’s what you need to know for now:
• If you do not receive the test text at approximately this time, please contact your child’s Main Office ASAP
• Please do not contact Main Offices about this matter until after the November 4 test
• Further instructions about next steps will be in the November 4 text message

As the winter season approaches, our goal is to have this system fully in place before inclement weather begins. We urge you to look out for this test text and please not wait to get in touch with your child’s Main Office if you do not receive it.

The automated text notifications will, of course, be in addition to all traditional means of finding out weather-related delays/closings, such as local news (broadcasts, websites) and all Ichabod Crane online outlets (district website and district social media).
