We’re showcasing the members of the Ichabod Crane High School Class of 2020 with Ichabod Crane Senior Spotlights. This amazing group of young people is, unfortunately, missing a portion of their final year at Ichabod due to COVID-19 school closures, so we’d like to honor as many of them as we can!

Senior Spotlight: Camdyn Ames

A prolific Honor/High Honor Roll student-athlete, Camdyn is a member of the Varsity Club and has played Riders Baseball (JV and Varsity), Volleyball (Varsity), Basketball (JV) and Football (JV).

Athletics have been balanced with extracurricular involvement in the Ichabod Crane Sports Network (ICSN), the Spanish Club, SADD and the Newspaper Club.

Throughout high school he’s earned the following honors: 1st team Patroon Conference Volleyball All-Star; Section 2 Class B Volleyball Sectional Champion (2019 & 2020); Regional Class B Volleyball Champion (2019 & 2020); Section 2 Class B Baseball Runner-up (2018); JV Baseball Coaches Award (2017); NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete and Ichabod Crane Rider of the Month.

After graduating, Camdyn will attend Lasell University to major in Sports Communications and play baseball for as long as possible.

    • Coach McComb, Coach Wolfe, and Coach Suafoa: “Thank you for all of the coaching, teaching, life lessons, laughs, memories and love you all have given me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your help on and off the baseball field.”
    • Mr. Ames: “Last, but not least, thank you, Dad. Without you everything I’ve done is impossible, I wouldn’t be here today without you. You have taught me to be the person I have become and for that I am forever thankful for you!”

Senior Spotlight: Katelyn Barnes

Katelyn is a High Honor Roll student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Tennis and Track Teams. She’s also the SADD President, the GAC Vice President and member of the National Honor Society.

Staff she’d like to shout out are Mrs.Grizzaffi, Mrs. Pemberton and Mr.Chiappinelli. Further thanks go to her mom for always supporting her through everything and always being there.

After graduation, Katelyn is attending the University of New Hampshire to study Animal Science.

Senior Spotlight: Ruby Bertram

Ruby thanks and is shouting out Mrs. Dwileski, Mr. Sanger, and Mrs. Barford!

She proudly received a scholarship to and is attending Sage College after graduating.

Senior Spotlight: Danielle Bradway

Danielle has been a constant presence on the Ichabod Crane High Honor Roll and is a member of the National Honor Society.

She’d like to give a shoutout to Ms. Zorzi for not only getting her interested in math but helping her enjoy it. She also thanks Ms. Grizzaffi for continuing to keep her interested in math and helping her with anything else she needs.

Danielle plans to attend Hudson Valley to study Liberal Arts.

Senior Spotlight: Richard (Ricky) Brennan Jr.

Ricky is a CTE Student in the Questar III BOCES Automotive Technology Program, where he is very passionate about working on vehicles.

He’d like to give a huge shout out to Mr. Farley, who was always there to offer a helping hand with everything and anything.

After graduation, Ricky plans on attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Florida to continue his dream of working on vehicles.

Senior Spotlight: Kristjan Bruno

Kristjan is a student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field Teams. During his time on those, he achieved the school record for the weight throw and was an NYS Indoor Track Qualifier for weight throw and shot put.

He’s also been a member of Spectrum, the Tech Club and the Military Modeling Club.

Kristjan thanks Mr. Goold for helping him out in football before freshman year even started. He always looked forward to his class, if not the homework. He also thanks Mr. Farley and says in his own words: “I only really had you for extracurricular stuff (we all try to forget that year of Earth Science), but you were always a teacher I could talk to and could go to ignore schoolwork for a little while.”

Kristjan’s plans after graduation are attending UAlbany for Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Senior Spotlight: Alaina Buchanan

Alaina is a student-athlete who’s played on the Riders Softball and Indoor Track & Field Teams. She’s also been a member of S.A.V.E.

Alaina thanks and shouts out Mrs. Hebert and says in her own words: “ I wouldn’t have made it through high school without my girl, Mrs. Hebert. She always (and still will) took the time to help me out. I would be sitting at lunch, and she would come up and talk to me. She always made sure I was okay, I’m very grateful for all of her help. I’m going to miss her restricted study halls!”

She’s moving to San Diego this summer and will be attending a community college to major in business once settling down out there. Alaina would ultimately like to use a bachelor’s degree in business to own an ice cream shop of some kind.

Senior Spotlight: Regina Clark

A High Honor Roll student-athlete on the Riders Field Hockey Team (where she is also a captain), Regina is also an AP Scholar and a member of the district’s National Honor Society chapter.

Regina has a few teachers to thank and shout out, in her own words:

  • Mrs. Lock: “She always put in so much effort to teach me math even if she wasn’t my teacher and always helped me if I was going through hard times.”
  • Mrs. Sullivan: “One of my favorite study hall teachers and someone I loved to talk to.”
  • Mr. Barford: “Always taught well and one of my favorite teachers to talk to.”
  • Mr. Chiap: “One of my favorite English teachers.”
  • Ms. Pemberton: “My day was always better when I had her class.”

After graduation Regina will attend SUNY Geneseo to study Early Childhood/Childhood Education.

Senior Spotlight: Jared Cook

Jared is a student-athlete who’s played Riders Volleyball every single year of high school and was on the Baseball Team in his sophomore year. Additionally, he’s been awarded a number of times for his volleyball skills including: Most Improved (sophomore year), Coaches Award (senior year) and was First Team Libero (senior year).

Outside of athletics, Jared was also a member of Ichabod’s Tech Club in his junior and senior years.

Jared is shouting out Mr. Moon. His classes were a fun learning environment and he inspired him to study to be a tech teacher in college (more on that below).

He plans to attend Hudson Valley Community College for two years and then transfer to SUNY Oswego to finish studying to be a tech teacher.

Senior Spotlight: Kelsey Coons

Throughout her time at Ichabod Crane High School Kelsey has participated in Crane Acting Troupe, Interact, Spanish Club, Cheer, GAC, Soccer, Model UN, Marching Band, Freshman Mentor, SADD, Habitat for Humanity and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Kelsey’s achievement that she is most proud of is when she attended the 2018 Youth Education Summit sponsored by the NRA in Washington, D.C. She met some of her closest friends during this week and developed connections and lessons she will use for the rest of her life.

Shout outs go to:

  • Mrs. Knight for helping her realize luck has nothing to do with success (because she doesn’t believe in it)
  • Mrs. Yearwood for always helping out with college and career decisions.
  • Mr. Shull for always being there to listen and supporting her from archery to school and the future.

Kelsey is planning on attending SUNY Cobleskill to get her Paramedic degree and then pursue a career in Emergency Management.

Senior Spotlight: Ruth S. Dazi

Ruth has been a dedicated part of Ichabod Crane’s Color Guard for five years, as well as a member of the School of Rock and Art Clubs. Ruth has also been a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) recipient during her high school years.

Ruth thanks Mr. Werthner for helping her come out of her shell for music and always listening when she needed someone to talk to; Mrs. Vooris & Mrs. White for helping power through all her problems both in and outside of school; and Ms. Eberhardt who always put a smile on her face and assisted with a fear of singing in front of others.

Ruth plans on attending school in Georgia to major in Physiology and minor in Creative Writing.

Senior Spotlight: Elena DiGrigoli

Elena is a student-athlete on the Riders Volleyball Team (JV & Varsity) and is also a member of Ichabod’s chapter of the National Honor Society, as well as the ICC Ski Club.

Shout outs and thank go to Ms. Grizzaffi, Ms. Zorzi and Mr. Miller for being great teachers and for helping out with classes.

After finishing high school, Elena plans to attend Hudson Valley Community College to study Mechanical Engineering.


Senior Spotlight: Madison Drahushuk

Madison has had a successful student career at Ichabod as a member of the National Honor Society and helping the Class of 2020 commemorate their time here as Yearbook Editor.

Madison gives a shout out to Mrs. Two-Axe for all her hard work staying up late meeting those yearbook deadlines, motivating her through her dedication to Ichabod and for just being a bright staff member to spend time with. She is super grateful they got closer this year!

Madison joins the University of Hartford Class of 2024 (Go Hawks!) next year to major in Political Science & Pre-Law.

Senior Spotlight: Zachary Ebel

During his time at Ichabod Zachary has competed on the Riders Football (Varsity) and Wrestling (Varsity) Teams. Zachary’s varsity wrestling career, in particular, has been noteworthy for his 22-17 victory record and for winning the Most Improved Wrestler Award.

He’s shouting out Mr. Farley as his favorite teacher for always making people laugh and keeping a positive attitude with his students.

Zachary’s thanks Coach Sarno for everything they’ve been through in the wrestling program, sticking with him when he felt he wasn’t the best and helping him overcome his toughest physical challenges.

Senior Spotlight: Jenna Fraioli

Throughout her years at Ichabod Crane Jenna has participated in Spanish Club, Interact Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and the Freshmen Mentor Program.

She made the High Honor Roll for every quarter of her high school career and was inducted into the National Honor Society.

She’d like to shout out and thank Mr.Vona, Mrs.Grizaffi, Ms.Ortiz, Mr.Sanger and Mr.Barford for their support and helping her reach the goals she set throughout high school.

Jenna plans to attend Drexel University this coming fall to study Computer Science.

Senior Spotlight: Madison Graham

A National Honor Society member and a regular sight on the High Honor Roll, Madison is also an accomplished student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Basketball Team where she’s been awarded Varsity Basketball MVP (twice!!).

Off the court, she’s Co-President of the Ichabod Class of 2020, President of the Girls Athletic Council and a member of the Student Liaison Committee.

Madison is shouting out ALL her current and previous teachers, as well as the entire ICC staff for everything they did to get her where she is today. She wants them to know how grateful she is for their support and how she wouldn’t be the student she is without all of you.

Next year Madison will attend Adelphi University where she’s committed to play basketball for them and major in Sports Management.

Senior Spotlight: Quinn Halpin

As an Ichabod Crane Rider student-athlete, Quinn has been a multi-season athlete, running varsity cross country, playing JV and varsity basketball and baseball, as well as a season of football. On top of all of this, he is also a member of the Varsity Club.

He would like to thank Mrs. Barford, Ms. Naef and Ms. Konkle for making his high school career memorable!

He would especially like to thank Mr. Moon for helping him learn the skills that he will use in his next chapter at Hudson Valley Community College.

Senior Spotlight: William Hamm

In his time at Ichabod, William’s been a member of our Ski & Spanish Clubs and also been part of the Freshman Mentoring program. Additionally, he’s a High Honor Roll Student in the National Honor Society.

William is giving a shoutout to not one, not two, but ALL the Ichabod teachers and staff for everything they’ve done throughout his education so far.

He plans to attend University at Buffalo where he’ll study Industrial Engineering.

Senior Spotlight: Camryn Rae Hebert

Camryn is a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete on our Ichabod Crane Riders Girls Varsity Soccer Team. She’s also kept busy in her time at Ichabod as a member of SADD & Ski Club and holding the titles of GAC Treasurer & Co-Class President.

An accomplished academic, Camryn is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Technical Honor Society and was awarded the Alice & Murray Giddings Foundation Scholarship.

Camryn gives a shout out to her mom and Mrs. Knight. She wouldn’t be where she is without her mom and wouldn’t have passed math without Mrs. Knight.

She plans to attend Auburn University for a Professional Flight Degree to become a commercial airline pilot.

Senior Spotlight: Luke Herrington

Luke is a High Honor Roll Student in Ichabod’s chapter of the National Honor Society. During his time here he’s participated in the High School’s Literary Magazine and this year he received “Most Artistic” for the Class of 2020 Senior Superlatives.

Luke would like to shout out Mrs. Knight and Mr. Cangemi for teaching difficult math and making it fun; Mr. Barford for making chemistry interesting and making his sarcastic comments; Mr. Goold for challenging him but keeping the atmosphere light and enjoyable; Mrs. Barford for helping with college prep; Mrs. Nytransky for introducing fun sports in gym; and Mrs. Dwileski for keeping photography engaging and teaching new techniques.

Luke plans to attend Hudson Valley to study Digital Media and hopefully become a video game artist or some other sort of digital media artist.

Senior Spotlight: Melissa Hilbert

Melissa is an Honor Roll (and High Honor) Roll senior who is also on our Ichabod Crane Riders Athletics Varsity Field Hockey Team, a Friends of Rachel Club member and in the Questar III BOCES Chapter of SkillsUSA.

Staff shout outs for having a positive impact on her are: Mrs. Lock for helping through all four years of math and for always being there to talk; and Mrs. DeAloe for helping a lot with life, helping decide what she wants to do, who she wants to be and supporting her every step of the way.

Her future plans are attending Columbia Greene Community College to study Nursing.

Senior Spotlight: Kailee Hollister, Class of 2020 Salutatorian

Kailee is a student-athlete on the Riders Soccer Team (JV and Varsity) and was a captain her senior year. She is also involved in several clubs including: Spanish Club, Interact Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Girls Athletic Council (GAC), and National Honor Society.

She’s been recognized as the Salutatorian for the Class of 2020. She has won the High Point Junior Scholars Award, as well as the Gellert Cornell Admissions Invitation Award. She has also been a Rider of the Month.

She is extremely grateful for all of the staff who have helped her throughout the years. She would like to especially thank Mrs. Grizzaffi, Mrs. Knight, Mr. Sanger, and Mrs. DeAloe for supporting her and helping her achieve her goals.

After high school, Kailee plans to attend Bentley University to study Actuarial Science.

Senior Spotlight: Sarah Holmstrom

Sarah is enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Questar III BOCES and is also in an Advanced Photography class which she’s very passionate about. Last year, she even won 2nd Place in a show for one of her photographs.

Sarah would like to shout out Mrs. Grace for being there through thick and thin. Mrs. Grace was always there to help Sarah through hard times, give excellent advice and cheer her on when things were great. She is her favorite teacher and always will be.

She plans to attend school for nursing after high school ends.

Senior Spotlight: Cameron Holzhauer

Cameron is a multisport student-athlete who’s played on the Ichabod Crane Riders Baseball and Basketball Teams (JV & Varsity for both). He’s a member of both our Varsity Club, Tech Club and the National Honor Society.

He’d like to give shout outs and thanks to the following ICC staff: Mr. Moon, Mr. Allard, Mr. Goold, Mrs. Pemberton, Mrs. Grizzaffi, Ms. Grace, Mr. Ames, Ms. Nytransky, Ms. VT, Mrs. Barford and Mr. Funk.

Cameron’s plan after high school is attending Hudson Valley to study Education/Physical Education.

Senior Spotlight: Elizabeth Quinn Keating

Elizabeth has been a contributor and leader in the Ichabod Crane student community through her service as Class of 2020 Secretary for three years, Riders JV Basketball Co-Captain in her sophomore year and Riders Varsity Field Hockey Captain in her Junior and Senior years.

Dedicated to her studies, she is a high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society for which she serves as Vice President.

She thanks Mrs. Knight and Mrs. Grizzafi for making math fun again.

Senior Spotlight: Zachary T. Kennedy

Zachary is a High Honor Roll student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Basketball Team and also a member of the Varsity Club. He’s been honored for his basketball skills with awards for Varsity Basketball MIP & MVP and he’s been one of our Riders of the Month.

Ichabod staff he’d like to shout out are Miss Lisa from the HS Kitchen for her smile and humor making everyday special; Mrs. Grace for always chatting about basketball and encouraging him to be his best self; and Mrs. Meyers for checking up on him through all the years since third grade.

After graduating, Zachary will be attending Hudson Valley community college for its HVAC Program.

Senior Spotlight: James Konderwich

During James’ time at Ichabod Crane High School, he played on the Riders Volleyball Team and was taking flight lessons, which eventually led to winning an Aviation Achievement Award.

James shouts out and thanks Ms.Yates for always being so nice, funny and laid back. In his own words: “I just liked having homeroom with her.”

After graduation James plans to study Aviation Science at Schenectady County Community College.

Senior Spotlight: Samantha Rose Kubow

Samantha is a multi-sport student-athlete on the Riders Track & Field and Cross Country Teams (Co-Captain in junior year).

Additionally, Samantha is a member of Ichabod’s Girls Athletic Council (GAC) and Spanish Club, as well as being named Miss Ichabod Crane at the Columbia County Fair.

She thanks and shouts out Mr. Barford for being supportive and caring about the students.

After graduating, Samantha will attend the University of Rhode Island to pursue a degree in Pharmaceutical Science.

Senior Spotlight: Madison Landry

Madison has proudly earned the title of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. He loves working with animals through both school programs and at home.

He’s been on High Honor Roll since the 9th grade, was inducted into the National Honor Society and was in the SAVE Club

Madison missed all of his friends and classmates during this year’s school building closures!

Madison thanks and shouts out the following teachers who helped him along the way: Mrs. Westover, Mrs. Nik, Mrs. Allard, Mr. Schoonover, Mrs. Rouse, Mr. Mead, Mrs. Konkle, Mrs. VT, Mr. Shull, Mrs. Kruger and Mrs. Monahan.

Madison will pursue a degree in Animal Education, starting off his college career at Columbia Greene Community College.

Senior Spotlight: Ciena Lentz

A High Honor Roll student and NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete, Ciena is on the Riders Varsity Cross Country and Indoor/ Outdoor Track & Field Teams. She’s been honored in athletics as MVP in the Field (2017-2018) and Most Improved Player (2018).

Ciena’s been named a Rider of the Month in her time at Ichabod and is a member of the GAC, Spanish Club, Newspaper Club, SADD and the Freshman Mentor Program.

She’d like to thank Mr. Sanger for always believing in her; Mrs. Grizz for making sure every single one of her students understood everything; Mr. Moon & Mr. Allard for helping her realize women can be in the shop; Mr. Barford for always taking time to explain the ways of Chem; and ALL the teachers she’s had for making it an amazing 13 years at Ichabod!

Ciena is attending SUNY Cortland next fall. After college, Ciena hopes to be happy, healthy and successful!

Senior Spotlight: Natalie E. McDonald

Natalie is a high honor roll student, the VP of the Yearbook Committee and a member of the Freshman Mentor Program. In her sophomore year, she notably was a part of the All-County Chorus.

Natalie would like to thank Ms. Byrne for encouraging and accepting her into A&P; Mr. Miller for his help and encouragement in A&P; and Ms. Myers(Lindsay)for her love and support way back in third-grade & for being her favorite teacher.

After graduation, Natalie will attend SUNY Delhi in Fall 2020 for Veterinary Science.

Senior Spotlight: Vivianna McEwan

During her years at Ichabod Crane High School Vivianna has been involved in Peer Mediation and has also been awarded the Presidential Excellence Scholarship for Sage College.

Going forward, Vivianna plans to attend Russell Sage College to study Nursing.

Senior Spotlight: Charlie NeJaime

Charlie is a High Honor Roll student-athlete on the Riders Tennis Team. He’s also a member of the High School Chorus and was designated as Rider of the Month a whopping three times!

If you live in our district you know how important Martin Van Buren is to it and how meaningful of a location his gravesite is to the community, but did you know Charlie made the plaque for the gravesite?

Charlie is giving a shout out to Mr. O’Brien for inspiring him to think openly about others’ opinions and weighing out the benefits of supply and demand. He’d like him to know he’s a very down to earth teacher and that’s something a lot of students love about him. Charlie feels very fortunate to have had him before he retires!

After high school, Charlie is interested in becoming an MRI Therapist.

Senior Spotlight: Olivia Oligny-Leggett

Olivia is a multi-sport student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Cross Country Team (3 years and a captain for 2); Varsity Outdoor Track Team (4 years and a captain for 2 years); Varsity Indoor Track Team (3 years and a captain for 2 years); and the Varsity Field Hockey Team (1 year).

Many times awarded for her athletics, she’s received: the Sean French Love of Running Scholarship; All-Star Athlete for Colonial Council in Track & Cross Country; NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete for all three seasons for all four years of high school; a New York State Qualifying athlete; and Most Reliable Team Member.

Outside of athletics, Olivia’s been very involved in many extracurriculars during all of her time at Ichabod Crane High School including: Crane Acting Troupe (1 year); SADD (4 years); SAVE (4 years and treasurer for 2 years), French Club (4 years and treasurer for 3 years); Habitat for Humanity (4 years, treasurer for 2 years and president for 1 year); Freshman Mentor Club (3 years and organization leader for 1 year); Spectrum (4 years); Area All-State Chorus (4 years), All-County Chorus (4 years); and GAC (3 years).

Additionally, Olivia’s been honored as a HOBY 2018 Scholar, an AP Scholar with Honors, a member of the National Honor Society, an Ichabod Crane Rider of the Month, the Columbia County Alternate Schoolgirl Queen for Ichabod Crane and a 2020 QuestBridge Scholar.

Olivia thanks and shouts out the following Ichabod staff: Mr. Sanger for pushing her to be her best on the track and in the classroom; Mr. Barford for helping her love organic chemistry; Mr. Payne for inspiring her to become fluent in French; and to Mrs. Byrne for instilling a love of biology & anatomy and for supporting her even when she was no longer teaching at the school.

Post-graduation plans, in Olivia’s own words: “I will be attending Dickinson College this fall as a double major in biology and French on a pre-med track. I hope to attend medical school and become a dermatologist. I will be continuing my athletic career as a division three athlete for track and cross country. I hope to study abroad in France or Northern Africa as an undergraduate and conduct scientific research while working on the Dickinson College Farm to learn more about sustainability in food production and medicine.”

Senior Spotlight: Bridget Pulver

Bridget is a captain on the Riders Field Hockey Team, and has also been on the Basketball, Lacrosse and Track & Field Teams.

She’s also a member of Ichabod’s National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society for Aviation.

After graduating, Bridget will attend Schenectady County Community College to study Aviation Science and become a commercial pilot.

Senior Spotlight: Cheyenne Reed

Cheyenne is a student-athlete on the Riders Volleyball Team (JV & Varsity) and was also a member of the Girls Athletic Council (GAC), the HS Yearbook Club, the French Club, the Art Club, the Freshman Mentor Program, Peer Mediation, the Literary Magazine, Girl Scouts and Empire.

She’s also a High Honor Roll/Honor Roll student, was named a Rider of the Month and awarded the ICC Rider Artist Scholarship, as well as the Willard C. Drumm Memorial Award.

Cheyenne shouts out and thanks Mrs. Dwileski, Mr. Sanger, Coach Vooris, Mr. Funk, Mrs. Nytranski, Mrs. Drummond, Mr. Shull, Mr. Maratuno, Mrs. Hebert, Mrs. Ferlito and all ICC staff.

Cheyenne will attend SUNY Oneonta to study Fashion/Textiles as part of a 3 in 1 program with FIT.

Senior Spotlight: Alexander Walker Regan

Alex is a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete on both the Riders Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track Teams.

He’s a National Honor Society student, a member of the Tech Club and a talented musician in our Jazz Band & Marching Band.

After graduation, he plans on attending the United States Coast Guard Academy to study Mechanical Engineering.

Senior Spotlight: Kaili Elizabeth Saccento

Kaili has been a student-athlete throughout high school on the Riders JV and Varsity Softball Teams. She was named the Most Improved Softball Player (2017) and also a 2-time Colonial Council All-Star (2017 & 2018).

Additionally, Kaili is also a member of the Girls Athletic Council and Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter.

Kaili would like to thank and shout out Mrs. Pemberton for Food Fridays and being interested in the students’ lives, as well as Mrs. Barford for letting students eat lunch in her room every day and listening to them vent.

This fall Kaili will be attending Siena College.

Senior Spotlight: Mark Liam Sappington

An Honor Roll Student-Athlete, Mark Liam has been on the Riders Track and Field Team for all 4 years of high school. He’s been honored with Ceramics and Digital Arts awards (9th-12th grade) 3rd place in the Envirothon-Hudson Valley Regional and the Mastery designation on the New York State Earth Science Regents Exam (9th grade).

Through all of this, he’s also completed 80 hours in the Master 100 Ton American Marine Training Centers course for his Passenger Vessel Operators License.

He thanks and shouts out Mr. Sanger, Mr. Allard, Ms. Dwileski and Ms. Drummond.

After graduation, Mark Liam will spend the summer working in Alaska as an ocean sport fishing guide and in Fall 2020 he will begin boot camp for the US Marine Reserves. Beyond that, he’s been accepted into Oregon State University where he will begin studying in Fall 2021. There he will focus on Fisheries and Wildlife with the intention of becoming a park service ranger.

Senior Spotlight: Maris E. Seabury

Maris is a High Honor Roll Student and a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete on the Riders Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Indoor Track and Varsity Outdoor Track Teams. Recognized many times for her athletic achievements, she’s received the following awards and titles: Outdoor Track Most Improved Runner (2017), Indoor Track Most Outstanding Runner (2019), Outdoor Track Most Reliable (2017 and 2018), Cross Country Captain (2019), Indoor Track Captain (2019 and 2020) and Outdoor Track Captain (2019 and 2020).

Outside of athletics she’s also been named as an Ichabod Crane Rider of the Month and received a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA).

Maris is also a member of the Interact Club, the Girls Athletic Council, Friends for Rachel, the Freshman Mentor Program and Ichabod’s chapter of the National Honors Society.

Maris thanks and shouts out the following, her own words:

  • Mr. Sanger: “For always being there for me and believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. He is one of my biggest supporters and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and guidance that he has given me over the past 4 years. I am going to miss you so much next year!”
  • Mrs. Goold: “For helping me with my writing skills and making me enjoy English again. I have never found another teacher quite like her, she is always bubbly, happy and bright which makes learning so much fun! In addition, I would like to thank Mr. Goold for always having the best homeroom. Even if I was having a rough morning he was always there to talk and help me start off my day on the right foot.”
  • Mrs. Barford: “For helping me through what we had of senior year. She is always there to help her students in any way, if it was school or even if it was personal she was there. I truly am going to miss our lunch group and the time we spent together after school.”
  • Her Mom, Dad and brother, Baden: “For always supporting me and encouraging me to follow my dreams. They never miss a track or cross country meet and were always at any school function. They are my backbone and I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I love you guys!”

Maris has committed to running Division 3 Track and Field for SUNY Cortland next year. She’ll be in the Pre-Medical program, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. With this degree, she plans to go to medical school to become an Obstetrician Gynecologist.

Senior Spotlight: Madison Seipp

Madison focused on her passions throughout her high school years at Ichabod Crane. Madison is the co-president of Crane Acting Troupe and has been a member since the 7th grade. She also participates in Model United Nations and is a member of the National Honor Society, Spectrum, French Club and the Newspaper Club.

Madison has been awarded the 2019 AP Scholar and Honorable Mention at Harvard Model United Nations.

She would like to shout out and thank the following teachers for their support and inspiration: Mr. Sanger, Mrs. Helfer, Mr. and Mrs. Goold, Mr. Payne, Mrs. Knight, Ms. Eberhardt and Ms. Yeats

Madison plans to attend NYC Pace University to degrees in political science and history.

Senior Spotlight: Jake Siter

A NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete on the Riders Volleyball and Baseball Teams, Jake is also a member of the Varsity Club and the Tech Club.

Jake is shouting out and thanking Mr. Moon, Mr. Allard & Mr. Ames for helping him survive and succeed at Ichabod Crane High School; Ms. VT for keeping him out of trouble; and Mrs. Barford for helping with college planning.

After graduating, Jake will attend SUNY Oswego for Technology Education.

Senior Spotlight: Blythe Mika Tamez

Blythe is a member of the National Honor Society and a student-athlete on the Riders Tennis Team.

She’s also active in Art Club, D&D, CAT Stage Crew and both Band & Marching Band.

Blythe thanks everyone for sharing their knowledge and guiding her, with some specific shout outs to:

  • Mr. Richberg for being the best teacher and sharing his stories.
  • Ms. Mallery for open eyes and recognizing her educational needs.
  • All her history teachers for filling a passion for historical events.
  • All her math teachers for sticking with her when it got tough.
  • Every other teacher that helped along the way.

After graduating, Blythe plans to attend SUNY Morrisville to study Equine Science.

Senior Spotlight: Michael Vecellio

Michael is a multi-sport student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Basketball and Varsity Track Teams, plus he also played JV Football. In his student-athlete career, he’s been the Captain of all three of his varsity teams and honored with a number of awards including Cross Country MVP, the Cross Country Coaches Award and the Jerry B. Gould Sportsmanship Award.

He’s a member of Ichabod’s National Honor Society and also a part of SADD, the Spanish Club, the Freshman Mentor Club, Spectrum, the Varsity Club and NYSSMA for which he’s been a 2-time All-State Mixed Choir member.

Michael thanks and shouts out Ms. Callaghan for putting a smile on his face every time he sees her. In his words: “She is always interested in how I am doing in sports and in life, and she always has encouraging words and a hug to brighten my day.”

Michael plans to attend Ithaca College and major in Sports Management.

Senior Spotlight: Austin J. Walsh

Austin is a multi-sport NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete on the Riders Varsity Football, Basketball and Baseball Teams. In baseball, Austin’s been honored as MVP and on the Section 2 First Team. He’s also a member of Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter and in the Varsity Club.

He thanks and shouts out Mr. Moon for always being a good mentor and teaching him important life skills; Mr. Goold for fun homeroom talks and sharing his love of history; and Mr. Ames for being a good role model and helping him through high school.

After graduation, Austin will attend Hudson Valley Community College before eventually transferring to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for Engineering.

Senior Spotlight: Rachel Walsh

Rachel has been involved in multiple sports and activities while at Ichabod. A multisport student-athlete on our Ichabod Crane Riders Field Hockey (Varsity) and Softball (JV and Varsity) teams, she balanced athletics with being a member of the Girls Athletic Club, Ski Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Students Against Violating Earth (SAVE), Spanish Club, Student Council and a representative officer for her class. PLUS, she’s been one of our Riders of the Month and is in the National Honor Society.

Rachel is shouting out her thanks to Mrs. Van Tassel for recommending her as a ROTM and being there for her throughout all of high school; Mrs. Barford for always letting her in her classroom when there was nowhere to go and helping with the college & scholarship application process. Overall she’s grateful for everything all the teachers did to make her a better student.

Rachel plans to attend SUNY Oneonta and major in Human Development and Family Studies.

Senior Spotlight: Madison Wasson

Madison Wasson is both a National Honor Society and a National Technical Honor Society student.

She’d like to thank and shout out Mrs. Barford, who made a significant positive impact on her, particularly during senior year. She was instrumental in providing Madison with the necessary tools to be successful, while also providing a comfortable and supportive learning environment.

After high school, Madison plans to start the Vet Tech Program at Penn Foster College.

Senior Spotlight: Trevor Wolfe, Class of 2020 Valedictorian

Recognized as the Class of 2020 Valedictorian, Trevor is a well-rounded student in athletics, academics and extracurricular activities.

Athletically, he’s a member of the Varsity Club and a multi-sport student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Golf, Volleyball and Baseball Teams. During his time playing those sports he’s been: a 2-time Member of the Section 2 Team at the NYSPHSAA Golf Championship; 2-time Times Union First Team Section 2 Golf All-Star; 2-time Individual & Team Section 2 Class B Golf Champion; 2-time Section 2 Class B Volleyball Champion; and 2-time NYS Volleyball Regional Champion.

Outside of athletics, he’s been a member of Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter, the Spanish Club, Harvard Model UN, the Ichabod Crane Sports Network, SADD and is Co-Student Representative on the Ichabod Crane Board of Education.

Trevor’s been honored as an AP Scholar with Honor, a National Honor Society Scholarship Semi-Finalist, a Capital Area School Development Association Recognized Scholar and as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens New York State Winner.

He’s giving a special shoutout to Mr. Shull, Barford, and Sanger for making sure he got his Senior Spotlight handed in on time.

Further thanks go to all the teachers who made learning fun, especially Mrs. Knight who made sure he never took himself too seriously and also to Mrs. Beth, Sarah & Terry who gave him a great home in their classrooms and introduced him to some of his best friends.

Trevor’s future plans after high school are to hopefully make a positive impact on the world in whatever he ends up doing.
