The following message from Superintendent Guntlow was emailed to all Ichabod Crane families on Sunday, November 8.

All previous school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Information page here.

Good afternoon,

Today, the Ichabod Crane Central School District was informed by the Columbia County Department of Health that a Middle School student tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on campus on Monday, November 2nd. We have now identified and notified all staff members and families whose students had close contact with the positive case within our building and on the school bus. All contacts to the positive case have been notified of the mandatory quarantine period.

If you were not contacted, there is no further action needed on your part.

In the event that any further developments occur or if additional information regarding this matter becomes available, the school community will be advised immediately. The health, safety, and well-being of our staff and students remain our top priority. We continue to follow state and local guidance to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect your health. On a separate note, we are looking forward to reopening our doors once again at the High School for in-person learning starting with our Group A (Monday-Tuesday) students tomorrow. We are happy to welcome all of our HS staff and students back in school.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Guntlow
Superintendent
