The following message from Superintendent Guntlow was emailed to all Ichabod Crane families on Wednesday, December 16.

All previous school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Information page here.

Good evening,

Late this afternoon the Ichabod Crane Central School District was informed that a Primary School student tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on campus on Friday, December 11. Any student or staff member who is identified by the Department of Health (DOH) as a close contact to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, is not allowed on campus until cleared by the DOH. At this time, we have notified all of the staff members and families whose students came in close contact of their mandatory quarantine. This has resulted in the need for one Primary School classroom of students to pivot to full remote learning through December 23.

If you were not already contacted directly via phone or email, your child was not a close contact and there is no further action needed on your part.

Please note there was no impact to the High School or Middle School as a result of this case. We continue to work in close partnership with our public health partners and follow the guidance of state and local authorities regarding our response to the ongoing pandemic.

At home, please continue to monitor your family for potential COVID-19 symptoms, wear a mask, stay socially distant, avoid exposure to people not from your household, wash your hands often, and keep your children home if they or someone in your household becomes sick.

Thank you all again for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenges together.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Guntlow
Superintendent
Ichabod Crane Central School District
