The following message from Superintendent Guntlow was emailed to all Ichabod Crane families on Monday, May 17.

All previous school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Information page here.

Good Morning,

We were informed today that a Primary School student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on campus and rode district transportation on Thursday, May 13.  As a result, one Primary School classroom has been placed under mandatory quarantine. Due to recent changes in Department of Health protocols and procedures around contact tracing, only a section of the bus immediately surrounding the positive student is now required to be quarantined. As a result, an additional eight students were also quarantined due to close contact on the bus.

We have identified and contacted all staff members and families whose students came in close contact with the positive case. Remote learning will be in place shortly for all students while they complete their quarantine period. Additional information will be forthcoming to Primary School parents of quarantined students from their child’s teacher.

If you were not already contacted directly by the district, your child was not a close contact and there is no further action needed on your part.

Thank you as always for your understanding as we continue to navigate these challenges together.
