The 1st Grade and Kindergarten classes recently learned all about the various aspects of Columbia County agriculture on a beautifully sunny AG Day!
Students traveled to four different agriculturally themed stations, each one with its own kind of hands-on activity for them to participate in. They planted flowers, learned about wool while meeting sheep, tasted different fruits and veggie products, and learned about dairy products and cows alongside a Jersey calf.
AG Day was possible thanks to participating local farms – Samascott Orchards, A. Ooms & Sons Dairy, Hollyrock Farms and the Schmidt/Purdy Family – and sponsorship by Columbia County Dairy Promotion in coordination with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia & Greene County. It was a fun (and educational!) day for all as you can see in the pictures below!
