Senior Spotlight: Tim Balon

Tim has been active in Ski Club during high school.

Senior Spotlight: Brooke Barmen

Brooke has been a part of the Riders Girls Volleyball team for the past 4 years. She has also played on the Riders Softball Team for several years. Brooke has been an active member of the student council and is a class advisor. She has also been a part of peer mediation since her freshman year and has been able to participate in several mediations. Brooke was inducted into the Girls Athletic Council (GAC) at the end of her freshman year and has been in it since. Brooke has also been recognized as a Rider of the Month

    • “Mrs. Grizzaffi always made everyone smile. There wasn’t a class where we weren’t laughing. She made math enjoyable with her sense of humor. I always looked forward to going to her class. She pushed me to put my best effort into my work.”
    • “Mr. and Mrs. Pemberton made one of my least favorite subjects one of my favorite classes to go to. It was always such a good class to end my day. Their sense of humor and laughs made the class fly by. I was very disappointed when my junior year with them got cut short.”
    • “I would also like to say thank you to Mrs. Barford, without her I would have been lost filling out my college applications. Mrs. Barford always checks in just to make sure you are doing okay, whether it is school-related or not. Thank you for all your help the past few years.”
    • “Mrs. Lock was my math teacher for both my freshman and sophomore year. Over the 2 years, she adapted to my way of learning and was always there to help me when needed. Thank you, Mrs. Lock!”

Post-Graduation Plans
After high school, Brooke will be attending the University of Albany School of Business and is also interested in studying Psychology. Additionally, she would like to attend Albany Law and participate in UAlbany’s 3+3 Program with them.


Senior Spotlight: Tismark Boham, Class of 2021 Salutatorian

Tismark has been the captain of Ichabod Crane’s Riders Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams, Varsity golf team, and is president of the Ichabod Crane National Honor Society. He is president of the Varsity Club and a student representative on the school board. Tismark is the Salutatorian of the Senior Class of 2021 and has been recognized as a Colonial Council track and field all-star. He also won the 6th-grade science fair with a complex cookie experiment.

“Mr. Sanger has inspired me to be great. Mr. Shull and Ms. Ortiz make me smile every time they wave to me in the hallway. Mr. Allard made economics fun! I was always excited to go to Mr. Chap or Ms. Yeats’ classes, even though it was to learn English. I laugh just thinking about Mr. Cangemi running into the trash can every day. Mrs. Milot and Ms. Byrne made me love science and Mr. Barford’s experiments are awesome. Mrs. Mcdonald showed me why school is special.”

Tismark will be studying mechanical engineering at Cornell University.


Senior Spotlight: Joan Bortugno

During high school, Joan participated in Riders Indoor Track, Color Guard and SAVE. Joan was also chosen as a Rider of the Month for 3 out 4 high school years.

After graduating Joan plans to attend Cazenovia College to study Fashion and spend summers working for OK Kids.


Senior Spotlight: Madalyn Bray

While at Ichabod, Madalyn has participated in Peer Mediation, Ski Club, Spanish Club and Riders JV Softball. Madalyn is also an Officer for the Class of 2021 in her role as a Student Representative at Large (alongside classmates Madeline Grout & Brooke Barmen). Madalyn is a high honor roll student in Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter and has been a member of the Girls Athletic Council (GAC).

Madalyn will attend the University Of Rhode Island to major in Pharmacy in their 0-6 Doctor of Pharmacy Program.


Senior Spotlight: Taylor Burnell

During high school Taylor has participated in Riders Tennis, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track.

After graduating, Taylor plans to attend Russell Sage College in order to study Health Science and Occupational Therapy.


Senior Spotlight: Grace Cammarata

Ichabod Crane Teacher/Staff Thank Yous and Shout Outs
Grace thanks and shouts out the following Ichabod Crane teachers/staff:

  • Mr. Sanger: Grace really loved your sarcastic jokes in the early mornings, they were a good wake-up call and they always made the class interesting and funny.
  • Ms. Yeats: Grace was not always a fan of the book choices, but loves you as a person.
  • Ms. Dwileski: Grace wants to especially thank you for being one of the most understanding and compassionate teachers.
  • Shoutout to the retired Ms. Ferlito: You were Grace’s absolute favorite science teacher, and you were the teacher that pushed her to become a strong advocate for the environment.
  • Mr Goold: Grace says thank you for “traumatizing her” with the Cultural Diffusion sword.

Grace will be attending Siena College as a Business major.


Senior Spotlight: Allyson Casey

Allyson has participated in Riders Varsity and JV Softball. She has also been a member of the Girls Athletic Council (GAC) since being inducted at the end of freshman year. Allyson was named a Rider of the Month during freshman year as well.

After graduating, Allyson will be attending Hudson Valley Community College to study Physical Education.


Senior Spotlight: Trevor Cavagnaro

Trevor has been a multisport student-athlete throughout high school. He has participated in Riders JV Soccer (9th grade, Captain), Varsity Soccer (10th grade), Cross Country (11th-12th grade, Captain in grade 12), Indoor Track (8th-12th grade) and Outdoor Track (8th-12th grade, Captain in grades 11&12). Accolades in Trevor’s student-athlete career have included a Defensive Award for JV Soccer, being selected to run at the Elite Eddy Track Meet in 2018, being selected to run at the Armory in New York City for the 1000m and 4×4 in 2019 and receiving the MIP Award for Cross Country in 2019.

Trevor is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society, has volunteered to coach the Town of Kinderhook Soccer Program and has actively helped with Ichabod Crane Booster Club events.

Senior Spotlight: Dylan Clarke

Dylan has participated in Riders JV Basketball and Cross Country, as well as Varsity Cross Country. He has also participated in Class of 2021 fundraisers and was named a “Rider of the Month” in March 2020.

Dylan is interested in Digital Forensics and Criminal Justice and plans to attend either Hudson Valley Community College or UAlbany in Fall 2021.


Senior Spotlight: Sydney Cook

Sydney has been a member of the Riders Track and Field Team and the Girls Athletic Council (GAC). She has also participated in Ski Club and Spanish Club.

After graduating, Sydney plans to attend University at Albany to major in Art.


Senior Spotlight: Erin Curry

While at Ichabod Crane High School, Erin participated in Spectrum, Crane Acting Troupe, Model UN, French Club, and Interact Club. Erin is proud to have participated in NYSSMA in 9th and 10th grade where she qualified for All-State at the end of her sophomore year. She attended the NYSSMA All-State Music Festival in her junior year and received the NYSSMA Award the same year. She also participated in the virtual All-State Music Festival during her senior year. Erin is a member and officer of the National Honor Society and serves on the Ichabod Crane Board of Education as the student representative.

Erin would like to thank all of her music teachers, past and present. She would like to thank Mr. Bulan for helping her achieve her goals and Ms. Eberhardt for fueling her love of singing and making her time in the music department fun and memorable.

She would also like to thank Mr. Sanger for helping to inspire her love of history and politics, Ms. Yeats for leading one of her favorite classes from high school, Mr. Shull for his support and guidance, and Mrs. Helfer for seeing potential in her and encouraging her as a performer while in the Crane Acting Troupe.

Post-Graduation Plans
After high school, Erin plans to attend college where she will study history and political science. She hopes to continue to sing and participate in music and vocal groups while in college, and take part in college theater productions.


Senior Spotlight: Brooke Dandridge

A formative Ichabod Crane High School experience for Brooke was participating in the Freshman Mentor Program during her sophomore year. This taught her about being a leader and being someone a friend could turn to with their questions.

  • “Mrs. Knight made math so easy for me and found a way to help me always understand it. She was always available for help even if I wasn’t in her class.”
  • “Mrs. DeAloe always helped me through my issues and helped me get through the day. Every time she sees me, she smiles and waves and it honestly makes my day.”
  • “Mrs. Kilcer for her bright smile every time I see her and always giving me a wave. Seeing her every day at the start of it was exciting and we always talked about anything, had laughs & smiles and always had a good time.”

“I will be attending Siena College to be a part of their accounting program. I’ve always been in love with numbers and when I read about being an accountant, I knew I was gonna love it. So now I will be a Siena Saint of the Class of 2025!”


Senior Spotlight: Luke Dee

Luke was on the Riders Volleyball Team in 11th and 12 grade and has also loved being part of Ski Club. He was also a consistent High Honor Roll student throughout high school.

Senior Spotlight: Sofia DeLuke

Sofia is a student-athlete on the Indoor Track Team (2019-2021) and Outdoor Track Team (2019 & 2021) as well as a member of the district’s Girls Athletic Council (2019-2021). She was named as a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete in 2019 and is an Honor/High Honor Roll student.

Sofia plans to attend either Hudson Valley Community College or UAlbany to major in Communications.


Senior Spotlight: Jack DiGrigoli

Jack has participated in Acting Troupe, Spectrum, and All-County Chorus throughout his high school career until those activities were brought to an end by Covid. He was a member of the marching band during his freshmen and sophomore years. Jack is a High Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. He has been recognized as an AP Scholar.

Jack would like to shout out Mrs. Barford for the great help she provided in navigating the college application process, he sincerely believes he would not be going to college if it wasn’t for Mrs. Barford’s help. Jack would also like to thank Mr. Barford and Mrs. Abrams, not only for being great teachers but also for their assistance in the college process. Finally, Jack would like to thank Ms. Byrne, and while she is no longer at Ichabod, her influence as a great teacher will not be forgotten.

Jack will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology and pursuing a degree in 2D Animation and Film.


Senior Spotlight: Olivia Dixon

Olivia has played Riders Field Hockey all throughout high school and played for the JV Basketball Team her sophomore year. She has been a part of the Girls Athletic Council (GAC) her junior and senior years and has enjoyed being a part of the Ski Club. She has been a Freshman Mentor her junior and senior years and enjoys helping incoming freshmen. She has been a high honor student all four years of high school. She was inducted into the National Honors Society her junior year and has been actively participating in any activities. She was awarded Rider of the Month for January 2020.

“Mr. Barford was one of my favorite teachers. Just walking into his class, I knew I would understand something I was being taught that day. He inspired my interest in chemistry. Mrs. Knight was another one of my favorite teachers. She always pushed us to do our best. I came into the high school enjoying math, so she was a great teacher to help me improve. ”

After graduation, Olivia will be attending SUNY Brockport and will be majoring in chemistry, working towards a Pre-Dental program.


Senior Spotlight: Joseph Dolan

Joseph has enjoyed participating as a three-season athlete throughout his time at Ichabod. He is a multi-sport NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete that has played on the Varsity Soccer, Basketball and Track teams. In soccer, Joseph has been the Finalist in the Class B Sectional Tournament for two years. He has also been an Honorable Mention for the Colonial Council All-Star Team for the past two years. In addition to sports, Joseph has been a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club.

One of Joseph’s highlights throughout his high school experience was volunteering as a coach for the Town of Kinderhook Soccer Program. Joseph enjoyed spreading his passion for soccer and inspiring younger players with a sense of team spirit, competition and teamwork.

Joseph wants to give a shout out to:

  • Mr. Sanger & Mr. Goold: For cultivating his love of history and challenging him to question the world around him. He truly enjoyed all of the history classes he took over his four years.
  • Mr. Barford: For a supportive and caring attitude. He always felt a sense of comfort coming to class.
  • Ms. Burn: For pushing him to be the best he could, even when he was struggling through biology. Thank you for not giving up.
  • Ms. Yeats: For making him a better writer and thinker. He really enjoyed Humanities and discovering interesting new works of literature.
  • Mr. Allard: For always putting him in a good mood in the morning. He has always felt comfortable talking to him and Mr. Allard’s kind, warm, presence at Ichabod brings out the best in his students.

Post-Graduation Plans
Joseph will attend Marist College in Fall 2021. He is currently undecided in what major he wants to pursue but is excited to take more history classes. Joseph plans to continue playing soccer and sharing his love for the sport with others.


Senior Spotlight: Sarah Dugan

Sarah has been a member of the Riders Varsity Girl’s Soccer Team since freshman year. She is also a member of the Girl’s Athletic Council (GAC) and served as secretary for it during senior year. Additionally, Sarah is a high honor roll student in Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter. She is proud of her many achievements which have included being named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete, a member of the Colonial Council All-Star Soccer Team in sophomore & junior year, a two-time defensive player award recipient, Soccer Captain in junior & senior year and receiving the Sage Scholar Award.

“I would like to thank all of the faculty and staff at ICC. A huge shout out to Mrs. VT for always believing in me and being there for me whenever I needed her. Also shout out to Mr. Moon, Mr. Allard, and Mr. Ames for making it fun for me to come to school every day. I would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Goold for their kindness and friendly smiles. Last but certainly not least, Mrs. Barford for all of her time and guidance throughout my senior year, I will never forget how much she’s done to impact my future!”

Sarah will attend Russell Sage College in the fall to study Childhood Education and play on their Women’s Soccer Team.


Senior Spotlight: Joshua Garcia-Cabrera

During his time at Ichabod Crane High School Josh has been a student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Wrestling and Cross Country Teams. Josh has also participated in the Model UN during high school.

Post-Graduation Plans
This summer, Josh will be entering into Air Force basic training in San Antonio, Texas as a member of the New York Air National Guard. Following boot camp, he will be attending flight undergraduate school, where he will be studying to become a flight engineer. When Josh returns to New York, he plans to continue his studies at UAlbany.


Senior Spotlight: Sierra Garrison

Sierra has taken advantage of the many wonderful extracurricular opportunities that Ichabod Crane has to offer to its students. Her involvement in various sports, performance music and community service activities during her high school career has resulted in her becoming a very well-rounded individual. All of this has provided her with such an enriching high school experience and memories that she will cherish forever.

A natural athlete, Sierra has been a strong member of the Riders Outdoor Track and Field team, the Indoor Track and Field team and is often a starter on the Field Hockey team. She has contributed to the school sports community by being a part of the Girls Athletic Council. Sierra has learned incredible skills and made tight bonds with her teammates. For five years, Sierra has participated in Ski Club. Because of what she has learned and the amazing time that she has had, she is extremely passionate about skiing and will continue enjoying winter sports for years to come. As a student-athlete, Sierra has maintained a steady High Honor Roll/Honor Roll status.

In addition to Sierra’s many sporting endeavors, Sierra has engaged in the visual and performing arts. Art Club has given her a creative outlet and the chance to attend the MET, which has encouraged her to pursue art through her Senior year. The saxophone has been Sierra’s instrument of choice and she has been able to showcase her musical talents through Jazz Band and Marching Band, where she has played at festivals, school sporting events and community parades.

She is a student who believes in giving back to her school and extended community and has volunteered her time to assist with the ICC Food Pantry and the ICC Closet.

  • MRS EDWARDS- “Thank you so much for being such an inspiring, hard-working role model. You have proven that in stressful and busy times, even during a pandemic, nothing is impossible. Thank you for all of your care and support, and for being a person I can always talk to.”
  • MRS PEMBERTON- “Thank you for all the fun-filled moments and permanent memories made in both U.S. History and our study halls.”
  • MRS KONKLE- “Thank you for always being there for me. You have always believed in me and pushed me to do great things. I wouldn’t have achieved so much without your help.”
  • MR SANGER- “Thank you for not only being a great coach, but also a great teacher. You have always wanted me to be successful, and you have pushed me to do so. You challenged me to do hurdles when I was scared, but instead of failing, you have made me much stronger.“

Post-Graduation Plans
After graduating, Sierra is planning to attend Washington State University to study Biology. During her downtime, she wants to travel and explore what the world has to offer, and of course, conquer as many mountains as possible.


Senior Spotlight: Madeline Grout

Madeline was a member of the Riders Girls Varsity Tennis team, the Girls Athletic Council and Ski Club. She was also a freshman mentor and a Representative at Large for the Class of 2021. Madeline has been on the High Honor Roll all four years of high school. She also received the Most Improved Player Award and dominated in an undefeated season as the 5th seed on the Varsity Tennis Team during her junior year.

During his time at Ichabod Crane High School Matthew has been on the Riders Track and Tennis Teams.

Senior Spotlight: Timmy Hamm

Throughout his time at Ichabod, Timmy has participated in the Crane Acting Troupe, Spectrum, Track, Cross Country, and was also a member of the National Honors Society. Some of Timmy’s favorite memories during high school were spent during his Crane Acting Troupe rehearsals.

  • Mrs. Helfer: For her help with creating some of the best memories ever and showing us all the magic of theater. The Crane Acting Troupe will always have a special place in my heart, and I can’t thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication to the Troupe. Thank you for always believing in us.

After receiving multiple scholarships, Timmy will be attending UAlbany in the fall majoring in Business Administration.


Senior Spotlight: Leia Herrington

Leia participated in the Yearbook Club, Book Club and is a member of the National Honor Society. She takes pride in having perfect attendance for almost 13 years and for being on the High Honor Roll for all but one quarter of high school.

I want to shout out Ms. Duffek for sharing a love of books with me, Mr. Barford for making chemistry more fun than it actually is, Mr. Miller for having the best homeroom and just being Miller the Killer, Ms. Grizzaffi for mitigating my hatred of math a little, Ms. Southard for a great second block my senior year, Ms. Two-Axe for all she does for the high school, Mr. Sanger for always being brutally honest, and Ms.Yeats for helping me improve my writing, and discover an appreciation for literature.”

Leia plans on attending Columbia-Greene Community College and then SUNY New Paltz to major in Childhood Special Education & General Childhood Education with an English Concentration.

Morgan has been a student-athlete on the Riders Varsity Field Hockey Team and a member of the Girls Athletic Council (GAC). Morgan is also a member of Ichabod’s National Honor Society chapter and served as the Co-Secretary for the Class of 2021.

Senior Spotlight: Phoebe Johnson

Phoebe has participated in various pre-college classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Model UN, Riders Varsity Field Hockey and was dual-enrolled in the Bard Early College Program during her junior & senior years.

Phoebe would not be the person she is today without Ms. DeAloe, who is the reason she was able to pursue activities and educational opportunities outside of Ichabod. She is extremely grateful to her for that.

Phoebe will be attending the Fashion Institute of Technology for Advertising & Marketing Communications this fall and plans to work in the fashion industry.


Senior Spotlight: Gabriel Kelly

Gabe has been part of many clubs throughout high school. He was the Vice President for the Class of 2021 during his freshman and sophomore years. He was the Vice President for the Habitat for Humanity club in his junior year as well. Gabe has been part of the Crane Acting Troupe since middle school. He is currently a member of the National Honor Society and the Model UN club. Gabe also participated in Riders Outdoor Track in his first two years of high school. Gabe will be attending Western New England University in the fall. He plans to pursue a major in Forensic Biology and a minor in criminal justice.


Senior Spotlight: Joshua Krizar

During high school, Josh participated in Crane Acting Troupe, Cross Country and Outdoor Track. In addition to his school activities, Josh is very involved with Boy Scout Troop 113, where he held several leadership positions and was a Den Chief for Cub Scouts. Now that he has turned 18, he is an Assistant Scoutmaster with the Troop.

Josh has been a High Honor Roll student all four years in school and is a member of the National Honor Society. Josh earned his Eagle Scout award junior year. This was the culmination of six years of hard work and dedication. His Eagle project was restoring Overlook Park in Stuyvesant Falls.

Coltin is a high honor roll student who has been a member of the Riders Varsity Cross Country Team and the Varsity Indoor & Outdoor Track Teams. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and a former member of Spectrum. He is most proud of his recognition from the College Board as an AP Scholar. In addition to receiving an honorable mention for his photograph at the 2020 Regional High School Art Show.

Senior Spotlight: Isabella Milazzo

Isabella was a part of the Riders Section 2 Champion Softball Team, as well as being a part of the National Honor Society and the Girls Athletic Council (GAC).

Isabella has been recognized as a Max Preps Softball Player of the Week, the Times Union Small School Softball Player of the year, a two-time Colonial Council MVP/Pitcher of the Year and was on the Class B State All-Star team. Isabella has also been consistently on the High Honor Roll.

Andrew thanks every teacher and aide who made an impact in their own way. While some stand out, he thanks every one of them for their contribution to becoming the person he now is. A special shout-out to Mr. B who was a great help to Andrew in Middle School.

Senior Spotlight: Scott Race

Throughout all four years of high school, Scott has been a High Honor Roll student as well as a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Club and Technology Club. Scott has been involved with several Ichabod Crane Riders Athletics teams, including Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track and Varsity Basketball.

During his time as a Rider, Scott’s athletic accolades include Most Improved Runner for the 2019-2020 season of Indoor Track. In January 2020, Scott was selected to run the 1000m at the New Balance Games at The Armory in New York City.

Emma has been on the High Honor Roll throughout all of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. As a student-athlete, she has been active in Riders Varsity Track & Field and Varsity Field Hockey. She has also participated in Model UN, ballet and is the Class of 2024 Treasurer. Emma attended the HOBY Leadership Conference during her sophomore year and has received the Wells College Junior Leadership Scholarship.

Emma is working over the summer and attending Wells College in the fall. She plans on getting an undergrad degree in either Education or Biology and then continuing on for a master’s in education or attending medical school to become a coroner or mortician. Additionally, Emma is also interested in becoming involved with the Peace Corps at some point in the future.

Senior Spotlight: Gabriella Two-Axe

Gabriella has participated in many clubs, sports, and activities during her time at Ichabod Crane. She loved being on the field with her field hockey team since middle school. Gabriella also enjoyed being invited to a few random book club meetings to discuss books and eat snacks. She was a Color Guard captain for three out of her six years in the Marching Band and she loved being a part of the Art Club at the beginning of her high school career.

Gabriella has been on the High Honor Roll since ninth grade and was accepted into the National Honor Society during her Junior year. Gabriella was also fortunate enough to win the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and attend the RYLA conference – an amazing experience she will always cherish.

She has always gone out of her way to check up on Gabriella throughout her three years of Music Theory and she makes Gabriella feel like the funniest person on the planet. Gabriella plans to spend the next four years at Middle Tennessee State University, right outside of Nashville, Tennessee. There, Gabriella plans to study Communication, Education, or possibly Music Business.


Senior Spotlight: Mackenzie Wendelken

Mackenzie is a High Honor Roll student in the National Honor Society. She has been a member of the Riders Varsity Softball Team since sophomore year and was pulled up for the post-season during freshman year when the team won states. Mackenzie is also in the Girls Athletic Council (GAC) and Peer Mediation.

Mackenzie will be attending Husson University and majoring in Exercise Science/ Physical Therapy. She will also be playing on their softball team.


Senior Spotlight: Austin Zlomek, Class of 2021 Valedictorian

Austin has been a member of several Riders sports teams including soccer, basketball, baseball, and track. He has enjoyed being a part of the Technology Club and holding various positions in class office including president and vice president. Austin is also the treasurer of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club.

He has received several awards in recognition of his academic excellence, some of which have included the Rensselaer Medal Award and the Clarkson High School Leadership Award.
