Every year, a number of our High School juniors are granted awards and scholarships by various colleges and universities. Congratulations to the following Riders who were selected as recipients in the 2023-24 academic year!

Alfred University presents Riley Strobel with an annual scholarship of $30,000 until graduating from Alfred. This scholarship recognizes students who take college preparatory courses and have achieved high grades.

RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) presents Emma Holmberg with the Rensselaer Medal, a $40,000 per year scholarship for up to four years (five for B.Arch.). This scholarship honors outstanding academic achievement and encourages careers in science, engineering, and technology.

Russell Sage College presents its Student Sage Award to Elena Pantoja. Elena will receive a scholarship of at least $72,000 over the course of four years to attend Russell Sage College.

Emma Holmberg and Sarah Balon were selected by High School staff for the Cornell Sweatshirt Program, which recognizes outstanding students and raises awareness among students in applying to Cornell. Emma and Sarah are prospective applicants to Cornell next year.

High Point University presents scholarships to Olivia McCrudden, Heidi Storch, Brendan Lockmer and Caden Tiernan. They will receive a $2,500 annual scholarship and have the chance for non-binding early acceptance to High Point University. This competitive program recognizes high school juniors for exceptional academics, leadership, and extracurricular involvement.

Western New England University presents the 2024 Book Award to Rebecca Church. This award is traditionally given to a student who shows a high leadership level through extracurricular activities and community service. It includes an application fee waiver, a book and a certificate.

Elmira College presents the 2024 Key Award to Remidee Delaney. This honor makes her eligible for a $22,000 per year scholarship, totaling $88,000 over four years.

Rochester Institute of Technology presents the Computing; Humanities and Social Science; Women in STEM; Art & Design; and Science & Math awards to Caden Tiernan, Elise Sayers, Rose Holliday, Sarah Balon and Andrew Spangler. Each recipient is eligible for a RIT scholarship valued at $76,000 ($19,000 annually).

Clarkson University presents the 2024 Clarkson University Leadership Award to Amara Gabriel. This scholarship awards Amara $100,000 over four years.

Clarkson University presents the 2024 Clarkson University Achievement Award to Caden Tiernan. This scholarship awards Caden $80,000 over four years.

The University of Rochester presents the 2024 Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology to Andrew Spangler. This scholarship award guarantees $5,000 annually, at least $20,000 over four years.

The University of Rochester presents the 2024 George Eastman Leaders Award to Franklin Navarro-Castillo. This scholarship award guarantees $5,000 annually, at least $20,000 over four years.

The University of Rochester presents the 2024 Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award to Emma Holmberg for her excellence in science and math and her contributions to the community. This scholarship guarantees $5,000 annually, totaling at least $20,000 over four years.

The University of Rochester presents the 2024 Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award to Amya Nazario. This scholarship award guarantees $5,000 annually, at least $20,000 over four years.

St. Michael’s College presents 2024 Book Awards to Evan Hilbert and Rylee Dunn. The Book Award recognizes students’ academic success and exemplary community service involvement. Evan and Rylee will be presented with the autobiography, Lulu in the Sky: A Daughter of Cambodia Finds Love, Healing, and Double Happiness, written by Saint Michael’s alumna Loung Ung ’93.

St. Bonaventure University presents the 2024 Bonnie Scholarship to Andrew Spangler, Sam Stead, Sophia Karic, Daisy Morales and Alana Wellhausen. These students were recognized for their academic achievement and service to their school and Community. The Bonnie Scholarship grants qualifying students a $20,000 scholarship annually, or $80,000 over four years.
