Ichabod Crane Central School District is excited to announce two key leadership appointments: a new Middle School Assistant Principal and a Food Services Director.

Erin Russo will begin as the new Middle School Assistant Principal on January 3, 2025. With over 20 years of experience in education, she has primarily served as a school counselor and earned her school leadership degree from MCLA in 2021. She is currently the principal at Fort Edward UFSD, overseeing a K-12 school of approximately 350 students.

Carly Wills has worked at Ichabod Crane since 2016, most recently serving as the Head Cook in the Food Services Department. This week, Ms. Wills, an ICC graduate from 2000, stepped into her role as the new Food Services Director, working alongside outgoing director Todd DiGrigoli, who will retire in December after 30 years of dedicated service to Ichabod Crane.

Superintendent Marie Digirolamo expressed her excitement about the new appointments: “Both individuals bring exceptional qualifications, from social-emotional learning to school nutrition. Their dedication to public education and putting students first is clear, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the ICC team.”

Ms. Russo was hired as part of a leadership reorganization to continue to meet the needs of our students in the Middle School and to advance the ICCSD Instructional Program Vision.

“I am happy to officially welcome Ms. Russo to Ichabod Crane and the Middle School,” said Middle School Principal Anthony Marturano. “She brings a wealth of PK-12 experience, including years of school counseling, which will provide support and leadership for our students in grades 4-8.”

Ms. Russo expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, saying, “I’m excited to bring my expertise in counseling and restorative practices to a district known for its excellence and dedication to students. Middle schoolers are at a unique age, navigating their independence and identity, and I’m eager to help them through that process. Living in nearby Chatham, I look forward to attending school and community events to connect with Ichabod’s families and residents.”

Ms. Wills also emphasized her dedication to the district, her alma mater and the school attended by her children. “At Ichabod Crane, we provide breakfast and lunch every day to all students at no cost, regardless of economic status. School meals are essential in providing our students with the nutrition they need for growth, learning and overall health. I’m honored to be part of a team ensuring every student has access to the nutrition they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.”
