As technology continues to shape our daily lives, we are working together to ensure our students use cell phones safely and responsibly. While these devices provide valuable connections to learning and communication, they can also present challenges when not used appropriately.
Since November, the Ichabod Crane Task Force for Safe and Responsible Cell Phone Usage has been actively researching, reviewing policies and visiting cell phone-free schools. In this edition of the Rider Report, you’ll learn about the task force’s work and details on two upcoming community forums in February and March.
At Ichabod Crane, fostering healthy digital habits is a shared responsibility. That’s why we’ve brought together administrators, staff, parents, community members and law enforcement to discuss best practices and reassess our current policies. By considering diverse perspectives and research, we aim to make informed recommendations that support student learning, well-being and safety.
Also in this issue, we’re excited to highlight new literacy initiatives in the Primary and Middle Schools, a remarkable achievement by one of our student-performers, and the award-winning essays from our Middle and High School students in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) contest.

A medida que la tecnología sigue dando forma a nuestra vida diaria, estamos trabajando juntos para garantizar que nuestros estudiantes utilicen los teléfonos celulares de manera segura y responsable. Si bien estos dispositivos ofrecen valiosas conexiones con el aprendizaje y la comunicación, también pueden presentar desafíos cuando no se usan adecuadamente.
Desde noviembre, el Grupo de Trabajo de Ichabod Crane para el Uso Seguro y Responsable de Teléfonos Celulares ha estado investigando activamente, revisando políticas y visitando escuelas sin teléfonos celulares. En esta edición del Rider Report, conocerás el trabajo del grupo y los detalles sobre dos próximos foros comunitarios en febrero y marzo.
En Ichabod Crane, fomentar hábitos digitales saludables es una responsabilidad compartida. Por eso, hemos reunido a administradores, personal, familias, miembros de la comunidad y fuerzas del orden para discutir mejores prácticas y reevaluar nuestras políticas actuales. Al considerar diversas perspectivas y estudios, nuestro objetivo es hacer recomendaciones informadas que respalden el aprendizaje, el bienestar y la seguridad de los estudiantes.
También en esta edición, destacamos nuevas iniciativas de alfabetización en las escuelas Primaria y Secundaria, un logro extraordinario de uno de nuestros estudiantes artistas, y los ensayos premiados de nuestros estudiantes de Secundaria y Preparatoria en el concurso local de la organización de Veteranos de Guerras Extranjeras (VFW).
