(August 27, 2019) We are excited to continue exhibiting student work throughout the region entering the new school year! From August 28 – September 2, participating Ichabod Crane students are displaying work at the Columbia County Fair in Chatham, NY.

UPDATED (May 7, 11 AM) Greyson won first place in NY-19 Congressional Art Competition! Thanks to all of you who voted for Shelter, Greyson’s work will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year! A truly amazing honor for this talented ICC artist. Many thanks to everyone who took time to vote. We’ll have further updates as we receive them.

(April 19, 2019) Three ICHS students will have artwork exhibited in the Questar III 30th Annual HS Invitational Art Exhibit from April 17 – May 17, 2019, at the Marvin Library Learning Commons of Hudson Valley Community College. A reception and awards ceremony for students, family, and friends will take place on Thursday, May 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm The exhibit includes artwork from high school students in Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene Counties.

(April 11, 2019) Our High School students currently have artwork on display through April 2019 at the 2019 Capital Regional Media Arts Festival Exhibition at the Nisk-Art Gallery at Niskayuna High School. Fifteen school districts submitted media artwork including photography, digital art, graphic design, film, video, 3-D printed designs and electronic music.
Artwork from twelve ICC High School students were selected for this exhibit and five won awards in the photography and digital art categories. The work was judged by a local graphic designer and art professionals from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Department of the Arts (iEAR – Integrated Electronic Arts at Rensselaer). Congratulations to all our students who have artwork in this exhibit!

(March 27, 2019) Four ICHS students have artwork selected to be on display in the 20th Annual High School Juried Regional Exhibition at Albany Center Gallery from April 4 – May 3, 2019. This year 24 school districts submitted 508 pieces and 100 pieces were selected overall. The panel consisted of art educators and artists; Tony Iadicicco, Takeyce Walter and Peg Foley who reviewed and selected the work for the show. The judges were impressed by a large number of very strong artworks in a range of media produced by area high school students in their art classes.
Due to the size limitations of the gallery, there will be two openings. The reception specifically for the artists, along with their family and friends will take place at Albany Center Gallery on Thursday, April 4, 2019, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. There will be a presentation including certificates and awards at 6:30 p.m. The Albany Center Gallery will also open the exhibit for the public as part of Albany’s First Friday on April 5th and the exhibit will be on display on May 19th.

Twelve students from Ichabod Crane CSD have artwork included in the K-8 Empire State Plaza Exhibit on display through March 18 on the South Concourse of the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.
This event is one of a kind, as it is the only Capital Region exhibition for K-8 students. It is an opportunity for students to showcase how their art was inspired by artwork from the Empire State Plaza Collection. The collection consists of 92 works of Abstract Expressionist art displayed both in and around the Plaza. It was established under the direction of former Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller during construction of the Empire State Plaza (1966–1978).
This year’s exhibition is representative of over 1,400 works from 17 surrounding Capital Region school districts. The K-8 exhibit is being held in conjunction with National Youth Art Month and is sponsored by the NYS Office of General Services, the Capital Area Art Supervisors (CAAS) group and the New York State Art Teacher’s Association (NYSATA).

(February 4, 2019) Seven Ichabod Crane High School (ICHS) students have artwork selected to be on display in the Art in Three Dimensions Juried Exhibition at Mohonasen High School from February 4 – 28, 2019. Jurors for the exhibit were Brandon Siscoe, Sculptor and Professor at The College of St. Rose and Sarah Haze, Ceramic artist, owner of Round Designs in Troy, NY and a graduate of ICHS. Artwork from 18 high schools will be on display and a reception for students and their families on Wednesday, February 6 from 6:30 – 8 pm with a presentation at 7 pm.
(January 18, 2019) Two Ichabod Crane HS students will have artwork on display at Columbia-Greene Community College’s 23rd Annual Juried Art Show for high school students. On exhibit will be senior Ama Boham’s digital artwork Grandma and junior Luke Herrington’s photograph L’eye’ght Bulb. The opening reception for the exhibit will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4 – 5:30pm in the Foundation Gallery at the Arts Center and will continue through February 22.
The competition attracts a wide-range of public and private schools in the area, including Cairo-Durham, Catskill, Chatham, Coxsackie-Athens, Darrow School, Germantown, Greenville, Hudson, Ichabod Crane, New Lebanon, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Saugerties, Taconic Hills, and Windham-Ashland-Jewett high schools.
