Flying Deer Program
(September 19, 2019) The Flying Deer Program returns to the Primary School (grades 1-3) for the 2019-2020 school year. After it’s popularity with students during its initial run in winter/spring 2019 we’re partnering again with the Flying Deer Nature Center in Chatham and expanding the program length. In the 2019-2020 school year, Flying Deer will start in the fall and run through the spring.
We’re hosting an Information Night at the Primary School from 6-7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 2 for parents/guardians to find out a bit more about the workings and benefits of Flying Deer’s “Trecess” program which guides students to safely explore Ichabod Crane’s natural landscape through games, activities, & crafts during recess time.
In the meantime, you can read a little bit more about Flying Deer below:
Flying Deer’s engaging, nature-based curriculum inspires curiosity, excitement, and joy while awakening awareness of the natural world. Team challenges and collaborative adventures outside the walls of the classroom inspire new ways of relating, and forge stronger bonds between students.
Students learn practical skills and tools that develop resilience and open the senses and the mind. They take away unforgettable experiences that sow the seeds for a stronger lifelong understanding of the natural world.
