PARENTS are their child’s first teacher!

Did you know:

  • 80% of a child’s brain is formed between birth and age 3.
  • Talking, reading and singing with your child, from the day they are born, helps them develop communication skills, patience, empathy and literacy.
  • Starting at birth, reading with children puts them on a path to success.
  • Children are never too young to begin to learn about language – listening to stories helps to develop their vocabulary, their knowledge of how language works, and their experience of the world around them!

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN GETTING YOUR CHILD OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START!

The Ichabod Crane Primary School, in partnership with the Talk, Read, Sing Columbia Program and our public libraries, is excited to bring the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program to our families!  Beginning on August 9, 2021, families with children from ages birth through five, will be able to check out bags of books to take home and read, and return to school when they’re finished reading them!  Children who have had 1,000 books read to them before they reach kindergarten, will be featured on our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Wall of Fame in our front lobby!
