Milk, K-12: $0.50

The Ichabod Crane Central School District participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, a federally-assisted meal program that provides two meals a day to our students at no cost to families. Every day, our students have access to healthy and nutritious meals that follow strict and essential federal guidelines. As of January 1, 2024, all K-12 students are eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, regardless of their economic status.
During the 2024-25 school year, 276,790 breakfasts and lunches were served across K-12. Also, in March 2026, 74 percent of students district-wide received breakfast and/or lunch.
Nutritious and Delicious
Our menus are thoughtfully designed to provide delicious meals that students love while meeting essential standards for calories, sugar and sodium. Each meal offers a balanced mix of proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and milk.
Since stepping into her role as Food Services Director, Carly Wills has focused on refreshing our cafeterias with new offerings and engaging events. Her mission is simple: to highlight the nutritious, high-quality meals available daily to all students at no cost.
Ms. Wills has established partnerships with local farms to feature a “Harvest of the Month” highlighting local vegetables, dairy and fruit. We also celebrate “NY Thursday” each month, serving a menu primarily sourced from New York producers. These items include beef patties, hot dogs, chips, apples, apple juice and applesauce. Furthermore, through the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, students have even more chances to discover new flavors and enjoy healthy snacks throughout the day.
Every meal served in our cafeterias belongs to the USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, adhering to rigorous health and nutrition guidelines. Our menus are specifically designed to be both appealing and wholesome, incorporating whole grains into favorites like pizza crusts, bread and chicken nugget breading.
To ensure we meet strict calorie and sugar limits, no food in our schools is deep-fried. Even condiments such as ketchup and honey mustard are carefully managed to maintain a healthy balance for our students.

In 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture expanded the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), enabling eligible districts to offer free meals to all students. Ichabod Crane CSD applied for and was approved to participate in this program for a period of four years.
We encourage Ichabod Crane families to check the CEP income eligibility chart — cuadro de elegibilidad de ingresos del CEP en español — and to fill out the form below if they meet the income guidelines. Completing this form is crucial, as it helps determine eligibility for state and federal benefits like SAT and AP exam fee waivers, College in the High School tuition assistance and college application fee waivers.
Students will continue to use their MySchoolBucks accounts to pay for additional items such as second servings, a la carte options and milk. This user-friendly application allows parents and guardians to electronically add funds to their child’s meal account and review transaction history. While creating an account is free, prepayment is not required to register. Funds can be added online or through cash/check payments made in our cafeterias.
Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
Please view the CEP Forms and Income Guideline Charts below in English and Spanish. Only one application needs to be submitted per household each school year. All information is kept strictly confidential.
The CEP Form is also available in each school’s main office. Please submit your completed application in the Central Office located in the High School.
