Nestled between the Catskill and Berkshire mountains, Ichabod Crane Central School District serves a population of nearly 7,300 residences in northern Columbia and southern Rensselaer counties.

Established in 1954, Ichabod Crane CSD educates approximately 1,700 students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in three school buildings located together on a 64-acre campus.

The Primary School houses grades Pre-K-3, the Middle School serves grades 4-8 and the High School includes grades 9-12. The district also offers morning and afternoon pre-kindergarten programs in partnership with Questar III BOCES.

Located about 20 miles south of Albany and 130 miles north of New York City, the district serves a vibrant rural-suburban community with high expectations for public education. Ichabod Crane offers comprehensive academic, artistic, athletic and extracurricular programs, along with Adult Education opportunities, fostering a culture that values lifelong learning for students and community members alike.

Rich in history, the community is home to several notable landmarks, including the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site and the Columbia County Historical Society, which oversees the Columbia County Museum, James Vanderpoel House, Luykas Van Alen House and the Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse.
