Instructional Positions

Non-Instructional Positions

Director of Technology and Security Systems

The Ichabod Central School District is seeking a Director of Technology & Security Systems. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, leadership qualities and possess a strong knowledge of technology systems and the integration of technology into the classroom.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate network design, analysis, capacity planning, installation, monitoring and maintenance, including hardware peripheral equipment and software applications;
  • Verify, update, and evaluate IT security systems;
  • Oversee maintenance of the Network, all end user devices, all related systems, all helpdesk tickets, documentation of maintenance logs, equipment repairs, and inventory, and any other related computer technology issues;
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate IT-related staff development programs in coordination with the assistant superintendent, to ensure proper and effective application of technology in support of educational initiatives throughout all schools;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technology in computer hardware, software and networking;
  • Supervise network engineers and computer technicians in the maintenance of network, end user devices, and data security systems;
  • Plan, author, implement, and evaluate the District’s Technology Plan;
  • Develop specifications and recommendations for the purchase of new hardware, software, and maintenance agreements and;
  • In collaboration with district and building level administration, develop and implement the annual budget for computer hardware, software, staff training, supplies, hardware maintenance and staffing;
  • Serve as the District’s Data Protection Officer and ensure compliance with NYS Education Law §2-d.
  • Serve on the district-wide technology committee;
  • Participate in other meetings with district and building level leadership, users, vendors, and other IT staff to further District goals and objectives;
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of previous leadership experience in education-based IT departments is strongly preferred;
  • Strong and current knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, telecommunications systems, LAN and WAN networks;
  • Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer and network software and equipment; to supervise the work of others, to provide technical training, to prepare and administer budgets, to deal effectively with instructional, professional, and technical staff, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Broad knowledge of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction as it relates to instructional technology.

Training/Experience:

    • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a closely related field and one year of work experience involving responsibility for the maintenance, configuration, or installation of mainframe and/or micro-computer hardware and software in LAN and WAN based environments; OR
    • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees, with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a closely related field and three years of work experience involving responsibility for the maintenance, configuration, or installation of mainframe and/or micro-computer hardware and software in LAN and WAN based environments; OR
    • Five years of work experience involving responsibility for the maintenance, configuration, or installation of mainframe and/or micro-computer hardware and software in LAN and WAN based environments;
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above;
  • This is a Civil Service Provisional Hire. Any successful candidate must pass the Coordinator of Computer Technology exam when offered by Columbia County.
  • All applicants must be a resident of one of the following counties: Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Albany, Rensselaer or Ulster.
  • Salary range is commensurate with experience and will likely be between $70,000-$85,000/year.

Substitutes for 2020-2021

We are seeking Teacher and Teaching Assistant Substitutes for the 2020-2021 school year. A High School diploma is required.

The rates for teachers are:

      • Uncertified teacher – $100/day
      • Certified teacher – $115/day
      • Teaching Assistant – $90/day
      • Certified Teaching Assistants – $95/day

Minimum Qualifications

      1. Graduation from a School of Nursing approved by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse.
      2. New York State License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Possession of License is required at time of appointment.
