Dear Parent/Guardian,
I hope this letter finds you and your family doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of the summer. The Primary School is ready and excited to see all our Lil Riders and repeat the success we had last school year while functioning during a pandemic. We are committed to the health and social-emotional well being of all our students and staff.
In an effort to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information, as we are continuing to evolve, here are some important updates:
Student Pick Up/Drop-Off: Student drop off will remain at the side door entrance at State Farm Road (horseshoe driveway). Drop-off will run from 7:35 am to 8:10 am. If you arrive after 8:10 am, you will have to escort your student to the front entrance of the school. Please do not let your child off at the curb, we ask that an adult supervise them into the vestibule of the building.
Student pick-up will begin at 2:10 pm. As in year’s past, this will take place at the front entrance of the Primary School. We will not be issuing “everyday” pick-up passes. If your child is an everyday pick up and will not be a bus rider, please register that information with Kelly Hodges (khodges@ichabodcrane.org). For students who are picked up “on occasion”, please utilize the google form titled, “PS Parent Pick-Up” form located on our website. Please note that you must submit this form by 12 noon on the day of the pick up. We will no longer be accepting paper notes for student pick ups.
Please be sure to bring your license when you come to sign your student out for school. Since our bus dismissal will be taking place at approximately 2:28 pm, it is imperative that you park in the designated spots and not in the bus lined spots. If you have not left the campus and the buses are starting to line up for dismissal, please utilize the sidewalk and do not walk in between the buses.
*We will no longer be conducting temperature checks on our students. Based on the “honor system”, we require all parents/guardians to take their child(ren) temperatures at home. If your child(ren) temperature is 100* or more, please keep your child(ren) home.
Attendance: If your student will be absent from school, we are no longer accepting paper notes. Please call the main office or send an email to PSOffice@ichabodcrane.org. Notes should include students’ full name, teacher, date and reason for absence.
Supply lists: K-3 supply lists are on the district website. Please note that supply lists are per grade level, not individual classrooms. Our PTA will be hosting a “Supply Drop-Off” which will take place on September 1st, between 8 am and 4 pm in the Primary School gym.
The district is kicking off the school year with a K-12 Unity Theme to reconnect our staff and students with our school and their peers. The goal is to help with student’s Mental Health and Social Emotional needs as some students may be transitioning back to full in-person learning. We are excited to celebrate Unity by bringing back our annual Unity Parade. This will be on Friday, September 10th beginning at 9 am. All the students in the Primary School will walk the track as a team and a symbol of “Unity.” We are all in this together and we will support each other! Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend and observe the parade. You can observe our parade by standing along the outside of the gate that is framed around our track. Please kindly practice social distancing when on our campus.
Birthday cupcakes/snacks: Yes! We are able to accept food items again! However, we ask that parents/guardians provide prepackaged items rather than homemade.
Lunch: As mentioned in our Opening Plan, students will be seated three feet apart in the classroom and six feet apart when eating lunch. In order to accommodate these safety guidelines, five to six students from each classroom will transition to the cafeteria to eat lunch. This will be done on a rotating basis so all students will experience lunch both in their classrooms and the cafeteria.
Flying Deer/Local Libraries: Flying Deer will be working with all our students this year again! We understand and agree that it is imperative that the students have as much time outside as possible. A complete schedule of days and times are still being worked out. I wanted to share this news as I know many of the students will be excited to participate.
Open House: At this point we are unsure as to whether or not we will be hosting Open House this school year, in-person. More information will be coming as we approach the September time frame.
Kindergarten Quest: If you are a parent of an incoming New Lil Rider, you should have already received an email with your specific K Quest appointment. If you have not received this information, please call the Primary School main office (518) 758-7575 ext. 6001.
K Quest will be on Wednesday, September 1st between 1:15 pm and 3:45 pm, by appointment.
Seesaw: Thank you to everyone who logged in and participated in the use of Seesaw as our main form of communication last school year. We are going to continue to use this platform for the upcoming school year. It is imperative that you continue to use Seesaw as we will be utilizing it for all our school to home correspondence.
Full Remote Learning: In the event we need to transition to a fully remote model, a more structured schedule will be implemented. Attendance will be mandatory and monitored. A copy of the Full Remote Schedule is within the district’s opening plan which is located on the district’s website. Information related to retrieving a device, if needed, will also be coming soon. As you know, Seesaw provides instructional videos and activities. Google Meet will also, again, be utilized. This forum allows for a live interaction with the teacher and peers.
Mask and Social Distancing Protocol: All staff, students and visitors will be wearing masks when inside the building. Students will have multiple mask breaks and the ability to take them off when outside. Our Opening Plan reflects the CDC and DOH guidelines of having the students seated at three-feet apart, aside from mask breaks, Physical Education, snack time and lunch which will be at six feet apart.
Parent/Guardian Emails: Please be sure to update us if your contact information has changed. This would include email address, cell phone number, etc.
As always, our teachers and staff are ready and excited to meet new Lil Riders and say hello to our returning Lil Riders. We are looking forward to another successful school year.

Espero que esta carta los encuentre a usted y a su familia bien y disfrutando de las últimas semanas del verano. La escuela primaria está lista y emocionada de ver a todos nuestros Lil Riders y repetir el éxito que tuvimos el año escolar pasado mientras funcionaba durante una pandemia. Estamos comprometidos con la salud y el bienestar socioemocional de todos nuestros estudiantes y personal.
En un esfuerzo por brindarle la información más precisa y actualizada, a medida que continuamos evolucionando, aquí hay algunas actualizaciones importantes:
Recoger y dejar a los estudiantes: Los estudiantes que dejarán a los estudiantes permanecerán en la entrada de la puerta lateral en State Farm Road (entrada en forma de herradura). Asistencia: Si su estudiante estará ausente de la escuela, ya no aceptaremos notas en papel. Llame a la oficina principal o envíe un correo electrónico a PSOffice@ichabodcrane.org. Las notas deben incluir el nombre completo de los estudiantes, el maestro, la fecha y el motivo de la ausencia.
Listas de útiles: las listas de útiles de K-3 están en el sitio web del distrito. Tenga en cuenta que las listas de suministros son por nivel de grado, no por aulas individuales. Nuestro PTA organizará una “Entrega de suministros” que se llevará a cabo el 1 de septiembre, entre las 8 am y las 4 pm en el gimnasio de la escuela primaria.
Cada año escolar comenzamos la apertura con un desfile de unidad. ¡Estamos muy emocionados de que esto suceda! Nuestro desfile Unite será el viernes 10 de septiembre a partir de las 9 am. Por favor practique el distanciamiento social cuando esté en nuestro campus.
Cupcakes / snacks de cumpleaños: ¡Sí! ¡Podemos aceptar alimentos nuevamente! Sin embargo, les pedimos a los padres / tutores que proporcionen artículos empaquetados en lugar de hechos en casa.
Almuerzo: Como se menciona en nuestro Plan de Apertura, los estudiantes se sentarán a tres pies de distancia en el salón de clases y seis pies de distancia cuando almuercen. Para adaptarse a estas pautas de seguridad, de cinco a seis estudiantes de cada salón de clases pasarán a la cafetería para almorzar. Esto se hará en forma rotativa para que todos los estudiantes experimenten el almuerzo tanto en sus aulas como en la cafetería.
Flying Deer / Bibliotecas locales: ¡Flying Deer volverá a trabajar con todos nuestros estudiantes este año! Entendemos y estamos de acuerdo en que es imperativo que los estudiantes tengan tanto tiempo afuera como sea posible. Todavía se está elaborando un programa completo de días y horarios. Quería compartir esta noticia porque sé que muchos de los estudiantes estarán emocionados de participar.
Casa Abierta: En este punto no estamos seguros de si organizaremos o no la Casa Abierta este año escolar, en persona. Habrá más información a medida que nos acerquemos al plazo de septiembre.
Kindergarten Quest: Si es padre de un nuevo Lil Rider entrante, ya debería haber recibido un correo electrónico con su cita específica de K Quest. Si no ha recibido esta información, llame a la oficina principal de la escuela primaria (518) 758-7575 ext. 6001.

Seesaw: Gracias a todos los que iniciaron sesión y participaron en el uso de Seesaw como nuestra principal forma de comunicación el año pasado. Continuaremos usando esta plataforma para el próximo año escolar. Es imperativo que continúe usando Seesaw ya que lo usaremos para toda la correspondencia de nuestra escuela con el hogar.
Aprendizaje remoto completo: en caso de que necesitemos hacer la transición a un modelo completamente remoto, se implementará un horario más estructurado. La asistencia será obligatoria y supervisada. Una copia del Programa Remoto Completo se encuentra dentro del plan de apertura del distrito que se encuentra en el sitio web del distrito. La información relacionada con la recuperación de un dispositivo, si es necesario, también estará disponible pronto. Como saben, Seesaw ofrece videos y actividades instructivos. También se utilizará Google Meet. Este foro permite una interacción en vivo con el profesor y los compañeros.
Protocolo de máscara y distanciamiento social: Todo el personal, estudiantes y visitantes usarán máscaras cuando estén dentro del edificio. Los estudiantes tendrán múltiples roturas de máscara y la capacidad de quitárselas cuando estén afuera. Nuestro plan de apertura refleja las pautas de CDC y DOH de tener a los estudiantes sentados a tres pies de distancia, además de los descansos de la máscara, Educación Física, merienda y almuerzo que estarán a seis pies de distancia.
Correos electrónicos de los padres / tutores: asegúrese de actualizarnos si su información de contacto ha cambiado. Esto incluiría la dirección de correo electrónico, el número de teléfono celular, etc.
