Superintendent Marie Digirolamo
Dear Rider community,
As the district’s new superintendent, I am happy to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to express my excitement to begin working in a community I’ve been connected to for decades.
Open communication is key to me, which is why I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about myself and my career in education. Prior to joining ICC, I spent nearly 10 years at Niskayuna Central School District. However, I am no stranger to Columbia County, especially the Ichabod Crane Central School District. My family lived here, and my siblings graduated from ICC’s High School, creating enduring connections and friendships that still thrive today.
In my initial months, I will prioritize reinforcing these existing relationships and creating new ones. I am determined to meet as many individuals as possible, both within and outside the district, to truly grasp what makes our school community so unique. Listening and learning will be my primary focus.
As I enter my 24th year in education, I feel well-prepared for this new chapter, after starting my career as a teacher and then serving in various administrative roles, such as principal and assistant superintendent. My dedication remains unwavering in enhancing instruction to ensure that every student at ICC receives the highest-quality, 21st-century education.
Together, with our team of administrators and staff, we will continue to empower our students by equipping them with the skills and support needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, both during their time here and beyond. Collaboration is crucial in this district, as it has been in all my previous roles.
Before officially stepping into this position, I had the pleasure of visiting the campus, spending time in each school building. I witnessed vibrant and dynamic spaces, where children and staff were enthusiastic about learning and being together as a united Rider family. I also had the pleasure to observe notable accomplishments, like the 5th-Grade D.A.R.E. graduation. Furthermore, Suzanne Guntlow, my predecessor, graciously shared a wealth of knowledge about this institution with me before her departure.
Looking ahead, I am eager to leverage my leadership skills in teaching and learning, advocacy, and cultural proficiency to further strengthen the solid foundation we have here. As the world of education continues to evolve, we will adapt and grow together.
Outside of my role as an educator, I love spending time outdoors, particularly near the water in the beautiful Adirondacks.
I want to express my deep gratitude for the warm welcome I received during my initial visits and throughout my first week at ICC. I am honored to be a part of the Rider family and to be a part of the journey with you all.

Como nuevo superintendente del distrito, estoy feliz de aprovechar esta oportunidad para presentarme y expresar mi entusiasmo por comenzar a trabajar en una comunidad con la que he estado conectado durante décadas.
La comunicación abierta es clave para mí, por eso quería tomarme un momento para compartir un poco sobre mí y mi carrera en educación. Antes de unirme a ICC, pasé casi 10 años en el Distrito Escolar Central de Niskayuna. Sin embargo, no soy un extraño en el condado de Columbia, especialmente en el distrito escolar central de Ichabod Crane. Mi familia vivía aquí y mis hermanos se graduaron de la escuela secundaria de ICC, creando conexiones duraderas y amistades que aún prosperan hoy.
En mis primeros meses, priorizaré reforzar estas relaciones existentes y crear otras nuevas. Estoy decidido a reunirme con tantas personas como sea posible, tanto dentro como fuera del distrito, para comprender realmente lo que hace que nuestra comunidad escolar sea tan única. Escuchar y aprender será mi enfoque principal.
Al entrar en mi vigésimo cuarto año en educación, me siento bien preparado para este nuevo capítulo, después de comenzar mi carrera como maestro y luego desempeñar varios roles administrativos, como director y asistente del superintendente. Mi dedicación sigue siendo inquebrantable en la mejora de la instrucción para garantizar que todos los estudiantes de ICC reciban la educación del siglo XXI de la más alta calidad.
Juntos, con nuestro equipo de administradores y personal, continuaremos capacitando a nuestros estudiantes al equiparlos con las habilidades y el apoyo necesarios para prosperar académica, social y emocionalmente, tanto durante su tiempo aquí como más allá. La colaboración es crucial en este distrito, como lo ha sido en todos mis roles anteriores.
Antes de asumir oficialmente este puesto, tuve el placer de visitar el campus y pasar tiempo en cada edificio escolar. Fui testigo de espacios vibrantes y dinámicos, donde los niños y el personal estaban entusiasmados por aprender y estar juntos como una familia Rider unida. También tuve el placer de observar logros notables, como el D.A.R.E. graduación. Además, Suzanne Guntlow, mi predecesora, amablemente compartió conmigo una gran cantidad de conocimientos sobre esta institución antes de su partida.
Mirando hacia el futuro, estoy ansioso por aprovechar mis habilidades de liderazgo en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, la promoción y la competencia cultural para fortalecer aún más la base sólida que tenemos aquí. A medida que el mundo de la educación continúa evolucionando, nos adaptaremos y creceremos juntos.
Fuera de mi rol como educadora, me encanta pasar tiempo al aire libre, particularmente cerca del agua en las hermosas Adirondacks.
Quiero expresar mi profunda gratitud por la cálida bienvenida que recibí durante mis visitas iniciales y durante mi primera semana en ICC. Me siento honrado de ser parte de la familia Rider y de ser parte del viaje con todos ustedes.
