The Ichabod Crane Wall of Fame recognizes the contributions and achievements of a diverse group, including graduates, former employees, volunteers and friends of the district. These individuals, through outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields or dedicated service to the district, serve as inspirational figures for our students.
Eligible candidates can be nominated by anyone (except by themselves). Nominees can be living or deceased. In order to nominate an individual, an application packet must be completed and turned in by the deadline (see Timeline section below).

Nominating applications are due in late winter and the Wall of Fame Committee typically meets in March to review potential candidates and vote. The district announces new inductees to the public by early to mid-spring, followed by an Induction Ceremony.
Nominees for the Wall of Fame must exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct and moral character.
A nominee must meet the criteria in one of the following categories:
- Distinguished Alumni: A nominee in this category graduated from Ichabod Crane Central School District and has made a lasting and outstanding contribution in their life and career. Nominations will be accepted for individuals who do not graduate because of military service.
- Distinguished Faculty/Staff: A nominee in this category is a former employee of the Ichabod Crane Central School District who has distinguished themselves by demonstrating exceptional leadership, character and achievement. The nominee can be an administrator, coach, faculty (teacher) or staff member.
- Distinguished Community Member: A nominee in this category is an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Ichabod Crane Central School District.
The district will establish a Wall of Fame Committee representing various stakeholders associated with the Ichabod Central School District and the Ichabod Crane community. The committee will review the applications of all candidates that have been nominated each year. The selection process will be based on the criteria outlined above, and all information discussed will be kept confidential. There is no limit to how many nominees will be selected for induction. Nominations are considered based on their own merit and are not in competition with other nominations.
The committee will be chaired by the Superintendent of Schools, who will have no voting rights. The 16-member committee will be made up of 3 Board of Education members, 3 teachers (one from each school), 2 administrators, 3 support staff members (one from each school), 3 high school seniors and 2 parents/community members. The committee will develop a rubric and a candidate would need 70% of the votes (therefore a candidate must receive no less than 11 of a possible 16 votes to be selected). Each member serves a two-year term.
The committee may suggest modifications to the Wall of Fame process through a majority vote.
