The following message from Superintendent Guntlow was emailed to all Ichabod Crane families on Friday, December 4.

All previous school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Information page here.

Good afternoon,

Yesterday we were notified that a family member of one of our fourth grade teachers tested positive for COVID-19. The teacher, who was asymptomatic up to and including Thursday, was immediately sent home to quarantine and the classroom fully disinfected.

Unfortunately, today we were notified by the teacher that she is now experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Although a confirmed diagnosis through a positive test result is still pending, we have been advised by the Department of Health to treat this situation as a positive case and follow all protocols pending test results.

All students and staff who were in contact with the symptomatic teacher have been notified and immediately sent home under a precautionary quarantine. None will return back to school until cleared by the Department of Health.

If you were not contacted, there is no further action needed on your part.

In the event that any further developments occur regarding this matter, the school community will be advised immediately. The health, safety, and well-being of our staff and students remain our top priority. We continue to follow state and local guidance to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect your health.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Guntlow
Superintendent
Ichabod Crane Central School District
