Ichabod Crane Central School District’s school budget includes funding for a district-wide Targeted Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for resident children who reach the age of 4 years old on or before December 1 of the year students enter school.
The program is provided by Questar III BOCES, the Ichabod Crane Central School District, and partners in collaboration with Advanced Therapy. The half-day program is located at the Ichabod Crane Primary School. Pre-K is offered Monday through Friday, with two sessions available in the morning and afternoon. The AM session runs from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the PM session runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Transportation to and from the program is provided by families.
This comprehensive, enriched and integrated program, taught by a certified teacher with support from a certified teaching assistant, utilizes the NYS Pre-K Learning Standards. It focuses on child-centered activities, the development of strong foundational skills in early literacy and numeracy, social interaction, and kindergarten readiness skills.
